Simple ideas for celebrating every day! Sunday Recipe Inspiration Batch 334 Since we're all friends

Simple ideas for celebrating every day! [King Arthur Flour]( Sunday Recipe Inspiration Batch 334 [Hero Recipe: Cake Pan Cake]( Since we're all friends here (can I call you all friends at this point? I hope so!), I'm going to level with you. Just between us, one of my qualms — or quibbles, rather — with today's food media is how often the adjective "easy" and its ilk are tossed about. Words like Simple! Foolproof! Quick! are peppered throughout every headline on food websites, television shows, and magazines. We're supposed to be lured in by the promise of ease and convenience. Firstly, this is pretty subjective — one baker's easy bread could be another's culinary Mount Everest. And secondly, it presumes that we all want easy recipes over anything else. But for most bakers, taste and texture and joy and pleasure are all comingled at a level above ease and convenience. And yet, especially given the shortages and unusual circumstances we find ourselves in, it's worth having a handful of recipes in your kitchen arsenal that are truly easy and decidedly reliable. So, after lengthy discussions among my fellow King Arthur bakers, we've sifted through our archives to bring you a few recipes that we really do stand behind as simple: one-or-two-bowl, stir-together cakes and baked goods that we recommend to anyone looking for an uncomplicated, undemanding, effortless approach to baking. For starters, our [cake pan cake]( is famous — and rightly so — for its simple method but sophisticated flavor. You can make the classic chocolate version, or try our [newer vanilla version](. Slather on the frosting and douse them in sprinkles! I'll skip over the obvious contenders (brownies and banana breads) and offer a surprise option: a yeasted bread! This [easy cinnamon bread]( comes together with a whisk and one bowl. You do have to rest it for an hour, but it's a batter rather than a dough, so just pour it into your pan and bake away. One-bowl cookie recipes are a dime a dozen, but these [flourless peanut butter chocolate chip cookies]( always blow me away with their flavor and streamlined ingredient list. And if there's one cake you might overlook, but shouldn't, it's our [late summer berry torte]( which you can make with pretty much any fruit all year long, including frozen fruit. You add ingredients one after another to the same bowl; don't worry about carefully alternating with flour and milk, or overmixing. This cake is a sturdy workhorse and always turns out beautifully! And there you have it: easy baking recipes that still deliver. While I'll never stop singing the praises of the slow, meditative ritual of being in the kitchen, life sometimes calls for a shortcut to something sweet and warm and comforting.
