7 Easy & Affordable Ways to Add Fiber to Your Diet
The majority of Americans are not getting enough fiber in their diet. Fiber helps the digestive system move things along. It helps with satiety and thus can be assistive in weight loss. Other potential benefits are improved heart health, lower cholesterol levels, and decreasing the risk of diabetes.
Fiber is found in all the foods that people have been eating less and less of in the past 50 years. In order to "help", many food manufacturers have been adding "fiber" to highly processed food-like products. Unfortunately, almost all the added fiber is of one type, inulin.

Sorry, Dark Chocolate Isn't Healthy for You
Every once in a while, studies come out promoting the health benefits of a particular food. For example, a 2014 study showed that consumption of dark chocolate improves memory in older people. The press was all over this.

Sesame and Corn Allergies, Now on Fooducate
Food allergies are a growing concern for many families. Whether it's celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, a life-threatening peanut allergy or a problem with shellfish, it is estimated that 15 millions Americans have some form of food allergy.
To make it easier for people with allergies to shop for groceries, the FDA requires food manufacturers to provide allergy information on their product labels. The allergy statement is usually found below the ingredient list. There are 8 allergens that need to be listed, if present in the product: wheat, milk, eggs, soybeans, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish.
In recent years, sesame and corn allergies are on the rise. The FDA announced last month that it would consider adding sesame to the list of allergens requiring disclosure.

Homemade Soup for the Win!
We've got a confession to make. We've never eaten canned soup. Although Campbell's and Progresso have greatly improved their offerings in recent years, their soups still taste like something made in a factory.
And yet, millions of people still prefer to buy their soup, instead of learning to make it on their own.
Homemade soups are easy to prepare, require very little work and can provide nourishment for an entire week.
