1 BILLION POUNDS… That’s the amount of pesticides used in the U.S. every year, Friend. Chemicals raining down on crop fields. Seeds coated with pesticides before they’re even planted. It’s impossible to truly imagine that many pounds of pesticides seeping into the ground and poisoning our rivers and waterways. The only reason we know the amount of pesticides used every year is because the U.S. Geological Survey tracks it. But after Trump Administration budget cuts, this program could expire in 2024! [Please, Friend, tell the U.S. Geological Survey to continue tracking pesticide use so we can protect bees, people, and the planet!]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Some of the pesticides that this program tracks can KILL BEES on contact. Others cause disruption to pollinator reproduction and navigation. Wild bee populations are already SPIRALING – some have crashed by more than 90% in just the past few decades! And many of the pesticides have devastating impacts on our health, from cancer and infertility to Parkinson’s and learning disabilities. The USGS program provides scientists and environmentalists with critical information on where, when, and how many pesticides are being applied. How can we protect bees and other pollinators without this critical information, Friend? [Will you sign our petition urging the U.S. Geological Survey to extend its pesticide tracking program]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Standing with you, Kendra Klein Deputy Director of Science, Friends of the Earth Contact Us: Friends of the Earth U.S. Washington, D.C. | Berkeley, CA 1-877-843-8687 [Contact us](foe.org/about-us/contact/) Email Preferences: [Click here to unsubscribe]( Learn more: www.foe.org/news www.foe.org/about-us www.foeaction.org Connect: [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Flickr]( © 2021, Friends of the Earth.
