URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Endangered orcas are at risk of starving to death while they are already on the brink of extinction! There are only 75 Southern Resident Killer Whales remaining, the lowest point since the 1970’s. These iconic mammals cling to survival in search of food, but overfishing has caused a major decline in the Chinook salmon they typically feed on -- reducing the orcas’ chance at survival. [Add your name now to call on the National Marine Fisheries Service to rein in overfishing to help protect the fragile orca population.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Increased irresponsible commercial fishing has caused a dramatic disappearance of Chinook and other salmon. The loss of these salmon has led orcas to starvation, stress, and miscarriages -- and it’s driving them toward extinction. Orcas already face so many threats to their livelihood like climate change, ocean acidification, and increased shipping traffic and pollution. If there is any hope of restoring the fragile population of this beloved animal, we need to first replenish salmon, their primary food source.
