Hey guys! Hope you had a great new year. What destinations are at the top of your bucket list for 20

Hey guys! Hope you had a great new year. What destinations are at the top of your bucket list for 2017? Last year, for me, it was Afghanistan. It's a country I've wanted to visit for years, and back in August I finally made it happen. I spent 2 weeks journeying through the mountains there, and recently published the first blog post about my journey. Click To Read: [How To Visit Afghanistan's Wakhan Corridor »] Check it out, and let me know what you think in the comments! What's Been Happening? I spent Christmas in New Hampshire with family, but now I'm back in Mexico at my temporary apartment in Playa del Carmen. Planning to stay put and work on the blog for most of January. Before that, I was exploring Costa Rica on a wild surfing & camping road trip. While I was there, I tragically crashed my brand new DJI Mavic Pro drone into a river, but managed to revive it after 3 days in a bag of rice! Still can't believe it worked. I even made a video documenting how I was able to save the drone. Click To Watch: [Is The DJI Mavic Waterproof? »] I'll be writing more about my trip to Costa Rica soon. Mexico's Secret River There's something exciting about wandering through the darkness, deep into the Earth, not sure what you’ll discover around the next bend. The Yucatan is full of cool underground rivers and caves. Anna and I explored some very beautiful ones recently at a place called Rio Secreto. Caves like this were often used for human & animal sacrifice, and even today many local Maya keep clear of them... Click To Read: [Exploring Mexico's Secret Underground River »] What's Next? I've got articles planned for Cuba, Costa Rica, and more from Afghanistan this January. But for the most part I'll be hanging out here in Mexico. Possibly planning a trip to Montana in February. Any recommendations for me there? Monthly Travel Tip January is the best month to book cheap flights for the rest of the year! For some reason airlines offer crazy deals in January, when everyone is planning trips after the new year. So if you want to save money, book your flights this month. Even if your vacation is later in the year. Check out some of my [favorite tips for finding cheap flights]. Monthly Photography Tip Get up early! Light is the most important ingredient for great photography — and soft, warm, morning light creates amazing images. Waking up early also means you’ll have to deal with fewer tourists. Want an epic postcard shot of a famous landmark like Chichen Itza or the Taj Mahal? Get there when they open and you’ll pretty much have the place to yourself! Thanks For Following! If you haven't yet, make sure to come say hello on [Facebook], [Instagram] and [YouTube]. I'm usually pretty active on social media. - Matt (The Expert Vagabond) P.S. - Traveling soon?
