Did I ever tell you about the time my laptop was stolen in Panama? Or how I got it back? Well it's a pretty crazy story... with a funny ending. After seven years traveling around the world, I’ve grown accustomed to deceitful taxi drivers, two-faced tour guides, insincere offers of help, and the occasional theft or scam. Have you ever had something bad happen to you on your travels? No matter how careful you are, it happens to the best of us. This month I wanted to share some of my favorite tips for staying safe on the road. Check it out below (and learn how I got my laptop back): [25 Useful Travel Safety Tips You Should Know »](=)= What's New? I've been in "business mode" for most of January, and will continue for most of February too. Updating old parts of my website to make them more useful, faster, and streamlined. In addition to optimizing my travel blog these past few weeks, I'm planning to attend a huge marketing conference in San Diego called the [Traffic & Conversion Summit](. Basically it's an event to learn high-end marketing skills from business owners who are much more successful than I am. Something I highly recommend everyone do occasionally. Invest time & money to learn from others who are where you want to be! Oh, I was also up in Manitoba, Canada for a few days, working on a photography job capturing images of a [polar expedition training course](=) led by famed polar explorer Eric Larsen. It was cold! Like -16 degrees F cold... and we were camping on the ice. A super cool experience. I was thinking of interviewing Eric about how he became a professional adventurer, is that something you guys would like to see? Boundary Waters Canoe Trip This past summer I went on a 10 day canoe trip in Minnesota with my father & sister, to a place called the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. It's a massive protected wilderness reserve on the border with Canada, and contains thousands of pristine lakes to explore. If you've never heard of it before, I highly recommend a trip one day! I put together a blog post about our canoe, camping, and fishing journey, along with a video too. Check it out below: [Boundary Waters Canoe Area: Paddling Into The Wild »]( Cool Stuff From The Web Here's what I've been reading on the interwebs this month: - [Top Places To Travel In 2018]() (Time.com) - [All Dogs Are Emotional Support Animals](=) (OutsideOnline.com) - [Photographer Jimmy Chin On Mastering The Art Of Chill]() (NationalGeographic.com) DON'T FORGET: [Get travel insurance](=) to protect your trip! (I always have it. Protect yourself from possible injury and theft abroad.) Thanks For Following! If you haven't yet, make sure to come say hello on [Facebook](=), [Instagram]() and [YouTube](. I'm usually pretty active on social media. - Matt (The Expert Vagabond) P.S. - Traveling soon? Remember to check out my [budget travel resources page](=). It covers advice on how to find low cost accommodation, how to book cheap flights, my favorite travel tips, and much more. [Unsubscribe]( | 382 NE 191st Street, Miami, FL 33179
