new book marketing tools [View in browser](=.6q1C3EYjk2vnCN-4FntHXirwQUTRzPoqhDRPUXeldzo) Most of this year I've been in crisis mode, trying to shore up my online platform before it's eroded by new AI tools. But it's a complex topic, and AI is actually pretty great for some things, like testing out ad copy or improving your blurbs or headlines. As a writer, I depend on staying ahead of the curve and having the best content, but I don't have time to be an expert on everything. There's [a free webinar](=.CSqKexeiuB7z3FHq_YIFk15kmXfyB7rNXkh0wRRSOHw) this week on using AI for advertising, and Mark has been the expert on this stuff for years so it's probably worth your time if you want to sell more books. =.m4Rn30zpkuddw_gx6d8vX7xvvaJvOvTKapcxs44wR2k If you're not interested in AI at all, I get it - but you should still keep tabs on things in case it accidentally affects you. The biggest recent change to Amazon is that they've added a checkbox to see if you've used AI... so you should understand the difference between AI generated and AI assisted. I like to play with all the newest software in case it can improve my process (it often can't because I'm an expert procrastinator). I mostly focus on the design and art tools, but there's a brand new writing software launching soon I think is pretty great so I'll share that when it's ready. Talk soon, Derek Murphy PS. If you want to see how I'm reacting to the AI apocalypse, here are two posts that list some of the most recent news and developments: - [is this the end?](=.mxO1e9GkDWPweeDN68GkIa5WXYMxaeuJHxlu1G8nJXQ) - [originality is overrated](=.2KflCXwgFCMYSYgeie5omVg1YEcyc5RSmHPJAwvZZoM) Those are kind of clickbaity, and I'm doing a weird thing where I'm being more messy and human than usual (on purpose I swear) to prove I'm not a robot, but it's a pretty authentic peek into the challenges of running an online business. Personally, I'm fascinated with the history, like how Descartes predicted in 1637 that we could never automate human language; and I used Vonnegut's ice9 as a metaphor for the AI revolution we're about to face... Chasing inspiration and creativity has been a life-time pursuit for me, and the limits and abilities of the human brain, but I know I can't escape new technologies and need to prepare. I'm also fascinated by the potential, and the dangers. Every once in awhile I get a truly powerful reminder, in the form of an email of gratitude from somebody I've helped, which makes everything worth it... so I'll keep putting things out and hoping they are useful enough to read or share. =.LCYGzJ27VdDJcoobqrtI28rrqTCkhCgBUlNSWvFZwkI [Share to Facebook](=.hng5FPryVEHykFj0mxyZfsA_LxHbHm-WvmFSEqhHYYs) =.fWeORlL31GRcEh1PxVn0N9U1NFiBczPh0c1jfxw0R9M [Share to Twitter](=.Nu6oHK3Biwdd1gWHx0_80Ut_Fa75KHvtTOoySVV48fA) =.5jzfYqAnLKSARgl47D9KgaDtIJC5Jb71PD4cPbXvfAA [Forward email](=.2MtwYrIyAoptei0GhgXJWLoEg1CpdrGnPuB2b20Fi5I) Do not want to see it again? The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
