And over the next 3 days, you’re gonna get this written interview… My questions will be highlighted in yellow… His responses will be italicized… And if you’re on the fence about investing in Jon’s legendary [“B2B Magic Charming Copy Template Pack”](~/AASl5QA~/RgRnDqHoP0RuaHR0cHM6Ly9jaGFybS1vZmZlbnNpdmUuY28udWsvbWF0dD9fa3g9V3FqM0RqWDNkdEJoMkttRVZZdkFXZ2FxNDIwLUlURGxSSmtTZXNxXzdZci1EUElLUTE2bEtOVVQ0UWl1SFgyOC5XR3hXYjhXA3NwY0IKZSDoHCxlI_dS8VIbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODZAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAjnx)... You’ll find his answers incredibly valuable in helping you to make the best decision for you, your business, and your future clients… Let’s get started… ===== Matt: “Why does your unorthodox approach work?” John: “It works because the majority of cold emails are terrible at worst, and boring at best. Nobody stands out. So everybody gets ignored. When my absurd email arrives in their inbox, it makes them smirk, smile, or laugh out loud within the first few seconds of reading it. This kind of positive reaction means they will keep reading it. It also massively increases the chance that they will reply to it positively. If you can brighten someone’s boring day, you’re going to be in their good books. As my approach isn’t in the same monotonous, corporate tone as the prospect has been accustomed to expect, the prospect will often respond in a similar tone. They will write to you like a friend. They will often try to one-up your humour. Already, you’ve got an advantage over all of the competing suppliers in their inboxes. They already like you. And people like doing business with people they like. A shocking, unbelievable insight, I know. :) In addition, if you’re emailing someone at a larger company, your pitch might get shared around the prospect’s department. You’ll be the topic of conversation between their colleagues. This provides you with a gigantic persuasive benefit when you end up on a call with them. You’ll also be memorable. Even if they don’t need your services immediately, they will think of you when you are in need. I once got an email from someone who didn’t reply to my cold email until an entire year later, when they needed my services. You don’t get all of these benefits if you follow the standard advice for writing cold emails. You must stand out to stand a chance. Matt: “Will this approach work for copywriters looking for new clients?” John: “Absolutely. It’s probably even more effective for copywriters than any other discipline. If you can make a prospect smirk, smile, or laugh out loud with your writing, it’s going to work to your persuasive advantage. You’ve already proven you know how to get a reaction out of your target audience: them. In addition, as you’re a copywriter, you’ll also have the skills to amend the email templates and make them your own. This is an advantage you have over people in other disciplines. Of course, not everyone will respond or appreciate your unorthodox approach. But enough will. If you send enough cold pitches, you’ll generate enough leads. In short: If you put in the work, you will get results.” ===== BOOM. That’s part I of my interview with Jon Buchan. I’ll be probing him more in tomorrow’s email. … [And if you’re ready to access a collection of Jon’s most effective cold email templates for a hefty discount, you can get ‘em all here.](~/AASl5QA~/RgRnDqHoP0RuaHR0cHM6Ly9jaGFybS1vZmZlbnNpdmUuY28udWsvbWF0dD9fa3g9V3FqM0RqWDNkdEJoMkttRVZZdkFXZ2FxNDIwLUlURGxSSmtTZXNxXzdZci1EUElLUTE2bEtOVVQ0UWl1SFgyOC5XR3hXYjhXA3NwY0IKZSDoHCxlI_dS8VIbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODZAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAjnx) Heads up: This special offer ends on October 20th, 11:59 pm PST.
