Hey friends! here. I was going to launch Productive VS Code last week but I did some soul searching

[View in browser]( Hey friends! [Chris Sev]( here. I was going to launch Productive VS Code last week but I did some soul searching thinking and did what I always said I wasn't going to do again. I built a course platform 🤪. Last course platform in 2016 Last time I built a course platform was Scotch School back in 2016 and brought it up to $15,000/mo revenue. My biggest regret with [Scotch.io]( is that I didn't put more effort into Scotch School. I loved the format and here I am in 2021 looking to do it again. Better Dev Pro - Coming Soon Courses will now live on [better.dev]( and be part of a Better Dev Pro membership. I'm thinking pricing around $12/mo - cancel whenever you like. I'll also be expanding this into more of a community. There's some great activity in our [Discord](. I'll be adding office hours and doing code reviews for members. Reasons to leave Podia and create a new platform: - It's toughhh to sell courses after launch. Most course sales happen in the first month of a course launch - Podia designs are ugly. I like designing sites - Just video isn't the best way to teach. Now, every video will have an article attached to it - All articles will be free (great for SEO). Videos will be a Pro feature. - A course is tougher to sell since it's a larger investment. Each video in a course can now gain its own SEO and sell based on its own article+merit. - The perfect example of this is the Make React Apps course which is 20 different React apps The Stack I built a course platform back in 2016 for [scotch.io]( and it took mooooonths. This time, I got it done in just 5 days! Jamstack is a beautiful thing. - Next.js - Authentication: [Auth0]( - Payments: [Stripe Checkout]( and [Stripe Customer Portal]( - Database: [Airtable]( - Video Hosting: [Muse AI]( - Customer Analytics: Maybe [Intercom]( or [Crisp]( I'll be doing a courses on how to put all this together so you can build your own subscription sites. FAQ - If you purchased a previous course, you'll still have access to it for life - I'll still be on YouTube for some videos+streams - Is it live? Almost. I'll be spending the weekend finishing up some last parts and then launching with the VS Code course next week - Will old courses be ported over? Yes. And if you purchased the course before, you'll have access here in addition to Podia. 😍 Favorite Links this Week [StackOverflow Developer Survey Results]( - React overtakes jQuery - Svelte is most loved - Neovim more loved than VS Code [Next.js 11.1 is out]( [Go to any github.com repo and change the url to github.dev]( [Visualize a codebase]( - Super cool Favorite Tweet of the Week [Sam-E 🐐]( [Sam-E 🐐]( [@WestCoast_Goodz]( [View on Twitter]( 18 YO: I want to try weed. Society: No it'll ruin your future. 18 YO: I want to get in $50k debt for education. Society: LFFGGOOOOO! [7:59 AM - Aug 1, 2021](#) [189]( [See WestCoast_Goodz's other Tweets]( 🚀 Better Dev Update Added sidebar navigation for learning guides so you can easily navigate. It goes hand-in-hand with the course platform updates coming next week. PS We've got some free courses to learn [JavaScript]( and [Emmet](.
