[View in browser]( Hey hey. [Chris Sev]( here. It has finally [happened](! The [Notion API is in public beta]( and available to use. I've long thought that Notion could be an absolute winner in the Headless CMS space. You could hold a blog, a docs website, or even the backend for a SaaS app all in a Notion table. We've seen something similar with turning a [Google Sheet into an API](. It is similar to [Airtable]( in that you can create your database by creating a table on a page. Get an API and you can build with any frontend like Next.js. I'm thinking I'll build a Next.js blog and make a [YouTube video]( next week. I use Notion for all my course planning and project planning so I could potentially build websites from all those pages. Here's part of the [Productive VS Code]( planning table. 😍 Favorite News Around the Web [Bootstrap 5 released]( (gonna take a lot for me to leave Tailwind land) [Notion API in public beta]( [We waste 500 years per day in CAPTCHAs]( [CSS Container Queries]( + [CSS Container Queries]( [mmm: Goofy new website drag and drop builder]( [SaaS Update]( We're currently building a new SaaS called [Spacebar](: The Productive YouTube Dashboard. This weekly section of the newsletter documents the journey building a SaaS (good and bad). This week was about organization, planning, [TypeScript](, and [Prisma]( ORM. Organization —- Getting organized and creating a Notion page with everything. Finally have all my thoughts on paper and have a clear vision of the launch. TypeScript —- This is my [100th time trying TypeScript]( and it's actually sticking. It's caught a ton of errors that I would've spent time on. More time is needed but I think I'll keep TS in Spacebar. Prisma —- I've been starting to learn [Prisma]( because Spacebar needs a few things stored in a database. For instance, we want to have an invites system so all that is stored in the database. I forgot how tough designing a database could be. The invites table landed on this though: Overall, I do think Prisma is an amazing tool for the Jamstack/serverless world. I've thought about just creating a Laravel API in 5 seconds and calling it a day but the ability to deploy the entire app from 1 Next.js repo is amazing. Next Up —- Finalize the invites system. Start designing the video uploader and use [react-dropzone]( so I can upload videos to YouTube from Spacebar! Once the uploader is done, we'll try to get on a 3 video/week cadence again. I also need to start doing research on payment systems. I was thinking [Paddle]( but I'm seeing other fun tools like [Memberstack]( and [Billflow]( and [Outseta](. I'm also thinking everything made for this SaaS will make it into a Next.js course on building a SaaS. Let me know if you think that'd be useful. Jobs Jobs in DevRel (developer relations) are a great way to make positive community impact through code. [New DevRel Jobs]( PS I've got some courses also if you want to learn [Tailwind](, [VS Code](, [React](, and [Emmet](. Happy Coding from [Chris]( and [Kapehe](! Better Dev Coding better every day. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
