Last year, J.S. demonstrated the importance of shining a light on the darkness of your email list?

Last year, J.S. (full name withheld by request) demonstrated the importance of shining a light on the darkness of your email list’s lives: === O Great and Wise elBenbo, I’ve been on your list for about a year now. I’ve been an email players subscriber for nearly that long. I came into your world at a time which was otherwise the WORST time in my life (worse than when I had 2 strokes at the age of 31 ten days apart). My wife kicked me out of the house, my then 2 year old son was basically a stranger, and I was in the process of watching my million dollar business which nearly wrecked my health, destroyed my family, and caused me to miss most of my dying father’s 70 birthday party (we lost him 2 weeks later), being ripped apart right in front of me. Every day during that time, I would read your emails and listen to your podcast, read the Email Players playbook etc… Not only did I love it because I nerd out over clever marketing psychology and killer copywriting… ...but it was also just so damn entertaining, that it brought a little bit of escape and happiness when I otherwise was ready to off myself. Fast forward a few months later, I started hanging out with a fellow online marketer who was really impressed with my ability to write good email subject lines, turn almost anything into a call to action, and tell stories in a fun and persuasive way. Much of that I learned from you. A few months after that he hired me and paid me a hefty little monthly retainer for my copywriting services. Today, we did a tiny email launch and I incorporated some of the lessons I learn from both watching what you do, and buying almost everything you’ve ever offered me. This weekend, we’re using part of the money we made to purchase the book where you teach your infotainment system. If you take the time to read this long ass email, I thought you’d find it interesting that I’m buying your book about infotainment, with money that I made sending infotaining emails, from a retainer that I got due to my ability to be infotaining, and it’s all because you infotained me from email subscriber to elBenbo evangelist. Thank you… seriously, you have no idea how much you’ve helped me. J. P.s. me and my wife are better than ever, and my 3 year old is laying on me sleeping while I write this. === A couple things came to mind after reading this: 1. What the late, great Earl Nightingale said at the very end of his infamous 11-minute teaching “The Boss” — about the necessity of being a bright spot in your customer’s day. And, if you are, they won’t come back because of your business, but because of you… 2. The skill of infotainment goes far beyond sales. One of the chapter quotes in my “Infotainment Jackpot” book is from the late, great Stan Lee. And what he said was: “...I have come to realize that entertainment is not easily dismissed...Without it, lives can be dull. Singing a song, playing sports — anything that entertains, that takes people away from their own problems, is good.” You will probably never bore someone into buying your wares. But, you can infotain them into being open to hearing you out. And, if you do it right, you could very well have a customer for life. OK, on to business: The “Infotainment Jackpot” book sale vanishes tonight (Friday 8/13) at midnight (EDT). It’s not going to make you a million dollars by next week. It’s not going to magically solve all your money problems. And, it’s not going to do you any good whatsoever if you don’t *use* it. Frankly, new product junkies will be extremely disappointed in it, and should resist their urges. On the other hand: If you read it carefully, apply it to your marketing (email, sales copy, social media, website, blog, content, videos, podcasts, info products, and anything else you use to sell with), and consistently work at getting better at it each day to the point where you are “unconsciously competent” at being infotaining (i.e., like driving a car, you don’t even have to think about it, you just… “do”…), I believe it can change your business in ways you cannot even imagine now. More: The main teaching (the first “Act”) is rather short. Around 51 pages, give or take. And that is by design. I want you to be able to read it in one sitting, and start applying it right away. The rest of the 300+ page book is selected “Email Players” issues about the subject I’ve written over the last few years especially, a couple in-depth interview transcripts, and 80-pages of combined real life exhibits and commentary on those exhibits. That way you can see the concepts “in action.” Again, the sale ends tonight, Friday 8/13, at midnight EDT. Until then, my hearty Horde can have it at a thick $100.00 discount off the regular price. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
