This month's updates from The BELE Network [View this email in your browser]( Greetings, BELE family: We know from research that when students feel safe, seen, engaged and connected in their learning environment, they are more motivated as learners and thrive. Teachers who incorporate student experience in their teaching are instrumental in creating those positive, welcoming, and engaging environments for students to reach their full potential. We’re excited to see this approach take shape in classrooms across the country. One example comes from [West Buffalo Charter School]( in New York, where educators recognized that students learn best when they feel connected to their school community. The educators took charge by looking for resources that could help them connect with students to learn how they were experiencing school. Using [Elevate]( teachers were able to collect feedback from students and significantly improve six learning conditions, including classroom community and meaningful work, school-wide. Educators have a large impact on students' lives, and when they center student experience in their classrooms, students bloom. With National Teacher Appreciation Day approaching next week on May 2nd, we hope you’ll join us in thanking the teachers in your life who help our students thrive. In Solidarity, The BELE Network BELE National Convening May 24 & 25 (Virtual) Register by Tuesday, May 16th to join this year’s Convening, “Partners, Power, and Pathways: Mobilizing a Coalition to Transform Student Experiences.” As communities demand leadership and collaborative design to improve the student experience, the 2023 BELE Convening will provide a space to explore evidence-based strategies and concrete steps to center students’ needs.
