But at the end of the day, we know that students learn better when they feel safe, engaged, and connected in their classrooms. Focusing on improving student experiences is key to preparing a successful future generation. This back-to-school season is an opportunity to intentionally double down on our commitment to create more positive student experiences and support students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Whether your school or organization partners with BELE or you simply believe in our mission, we want to hear your stories and learnings about what’s working in your community to improve and prioritize how students are experiencing their classroom this year. Supporting Texas Transformation | Transcend 10% of all US K-12 students live in Texas. The learning experiences we create for students in the state have a tremendous impact, so Transcend started an innovative journey in 2020 to redesign students’ educational experiences across Texas. We Need Black August Now More Than Ever | National Equity Project In a month when students head back to school and are surrounded by attacks on true portrayals of Black history, teaching the significance of Black August is more important than ever. No Shame or Stigmas | UCLA Center for the Transformation of Schools A new UCLA research brief identifies challenges and effective practices in meeting the needs of youth experiencing homelessness in Long Beach Unified School District and Monterey County, where significant numbers of students are housing insecure. The brief provides recommendations for state officials, local officials, and school staff to inform better support for youth impacted by homelessness. Read it [here](.
