Hi {NAME},
Apple has been busy this week, hosting its annual Worldwide Developer Conference virtually in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Its keynote event was held on Monday and several announcements were made to introduce the next versions of the operating systems for the Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. Apple also announced that it will be making its own processor chips for the Mac, moving away from Intel's processors that it's been using for more than a decade.
The next version of macOS is dubbed Big Sur and features significant updates to Safari and a focus on privacy, along with an updated design. Messages will also get a major update, with features that will carry over to the iPhone and iPad in iOS 14 to pin favorite conversations to the top of the list, create and use Memoji, and new features to make group message conversations easier to follow.
iOS 14 has some features that we're very excited about. Apple is finally offering the ability to have widgets on your home screen so that apps can provide information and even some functionality quickly. And though it sounds like a small change, we think it's a pretty big deal: Siri interactions and incoming calls will no longer take over the entire screen. Also new in iOS 14 will be App Clips, which are abbreviated apps that will allow you to carry out specific tasks without downloading and setting up a full app. Apple highlighted tasks like renting a scooter or ordering a coffee that can be done quickly using App Clips.
The Messages and interface changes from iOS 14 for the iPhone will also make it to iPadOS, along with a game-changing feature called Scribble that will allow Apple Pencil users to hand write in any text field and will automatically convert it to typed text. Scribble will also recognize things like dates, phone numbers, and addresses to make calendar event creation and other tasks even easier.
As in previous years, these next operating system versions will be available in the fall for free. If you have just under 2 hours to spare and want to see the entire keynote event with all of the announcements in their full glory, Apple has made it available on [YouTube](.
