Your support will be put to work immediately [View in Browser]( [Amnesty International candle logo]( Dear {NAME}, This is a big deal: [starting today, a generous group of donors will triple the size of your donation to Amnesty.]( We haven’t heard from you yet* {NAME}, so I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss our message: you power Amnesty’s research and campaigns, NOT any government dollars. That’s important because it means Amnesty can remain independent of any political ideology, economic interest or religion. We don’t hesitate to call out corrupt leaders, or stand up to greedy corporations — even when others back down. In a time of increasing disinformation and the influence of money in politics, our independence sets us apart from other organizations… and it’s precisely why your membership donation is so critical to us. {NAME}, during the holidays, nothing is sweeter than gathering around a warm meal with your family or friends… but this time of year also reminds me that there are people living in peril, anxiously waiting for a knock on the door from authorities who will take them away from their loved ones. It’s them who I wake up every single day to fight for. And I know you care deeply, too. Right now, we’re working to help people like: Toomaj Salehi, a rapper and hip hop artist in Iran who spent almost a year in detention and has been sentenced to six years in prison for creating music that denounced the abuses of the Iranian government. Hoda Abdelmoniem, a human rights lawyer in Egypt who was arbitrarily detained five years ago and has since been sentenced to five years in prison for her work and peaceful dissent. Nasser Zefzafi, a key figure in the Moroccan protest movement that began in 2017 who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his peaceful activism and protest. These individuals, and so many others, are facing injustice simply for speaking up. [DONATE]( We’re so close to meeting our goal and securing the funds needed to start the new year off strong. Right now, your support will be put to work immediately as we enter 2024: ➡️ [$100 will become $300]( to send Amnesty researchers and investigators to crisis zones to document and expose human rights abuses. ➡️ [$150 will become $450]( to provide financial assistance and legal aid for human rights defenders at risk. ➡️ [$200 will become $600]( to fund critical reporting to uplift the voices of women and girls whose struggle to claim their human rights would otherwise go unseen. When you give to Amnesty International — especially in moments like these when your impact is multiplied — you make sure that human rights abuses are documented, and that the evidence we compile is used to holds the abusers accountable. I can’t thank you enough, Paul O’Brien Executive Director Amnesty International USA P.S. {NAME}, we pride ourselves on our independence to hold human rights abusers accountable. But we’re only able to keep the lights on with grassroots support — that means small dollar donations from people like you. [Please, consider making a tax-deductible donation today.]( *We are doing our best to keep our records up to date. If you have already made a donation, thank you for your generosity!
