We’re extending our 4x match [View in Browser]( [Amnesty International candle logo]( [HELP US CLOSE THE GAP »]( {NAME}, It’s 10am here in New York, and I just finished reviewing the results from our Giving Tuesday campaign with my team. I don’t usually send messages like this, but it’s important to be transparent with you about where we stand. We unlocked a 4X match, but we narrowly missed our goal by 7%. Giving Tuesday is one of Amnesty’s most important fundraising days of the year, so any shortfall will have a major impact on our budget for next year — and what we’re able to accomplish. We’re so grateful for every person who gave generously for Giving Tuesday. But we still need 456 more people to help us close the gap. [Can you help us reach our goal? We’ve extended our match — all donations made before midnight tomorrow will go four times as far to protect human rights. If you didn’t give yesterday, now’s your chance to make a special 4x matched gift.]( As the CFO of Amnesty USA, I’ve been meticulously monitoring our budget. Meeting our fundraising goals is what makes it possible for Amnesty to go into 2024 with the resources needed to tackle human rights challenges around the world. We refuse to accept money from governments so we can remain fiercely independent. But that means we rely on individual donations to power our work. Here’s a look at where we’re at right now, including how many people we need to hear from today: [2023 Giving Tuesday Budget Tracker]( [MIDNIGHT DEADLINE: $1 = $4]( In the face of one human rights crisis after another, Amnesty keeps rising to the challenge. We’re investigating in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, fighting for women’s rights in Afghanistan and speaking up for victims of the escalating conflict in Sudan. Our ability to do this important work depends on the funds we can raise from people like you, on days like today. We need to start next year on a strong foundation. When we need support most, we ask people who care — like you — to join us in our movement for human rights. [Will you help us close this gap so we can reach our Giving Tuesday goal?]( [Your gift will be matched four times]( to help us work to free prisoners of conscience in Iran, expose war crimes in Ukraine, protect the rights of refugees and asylum-seekers — and defend human rights wherever they’re under attack. I hope we can rely on your support to help get us over the line. [Make your special donation here before our 4X match expires tomorrow at midnight.]( Thank you for your support, your activism, and your dedication to protecting human rights... from all of us at Amnesty. Sincerely, Jean-Claude Toussaint Chief Finance and Administration Officer Amnesty International USA P.S. As part of my role, I can confirm that Amnesty always uses its resources strategically, efficiently, and effectively. We ensure that every dollar is stretched to go as far as it can to protect human rights.
