The Taliban’s brutal rule must end now Dear {NAME}, Today, exactly two years after the Taliban

The Taliban’s brutal rule must end now [View in Browser]( [Amnesty International candle logo]( [TODAY ONLY] 3X MATCHING GIFT: [TRIPLE YOUR IMPACT FOR AFGHANS AT RISK »]( Dear {NAME}, Today, exactly two years after the Taliban took over in Afghanistan, millions of women, girls, and families are desperately clinging to hope and waiting for justice. They are counting on our movement to show up alongside them. [Before your 3X match ends at midnight, help ensure that we do everything we can to defend human rights in Afghanistan »]( The U.S. said it would never abandon Afghan families. Government leaders said they would never forget the brutal rule of the Taliban. In fact, I was in Afghanistan in the late nineties when the Taliban first came to power. I’ve personally seen and documented what the Taliban is capable of — they will stop at nothing to exercise complete control over women’s lives. Years of progress have been wiped out, and the Taliban has been free to commit crimes against humanity with impunity. The international community has turned its back on the cruelty occurring in Afghanistan — but Amnesty refuses to look away. [Thanks to generous donations from people like you,]( Amnesty was the first international rights monitor to return to Afghanistan after the takeover and we’ve been the only international rights organization that has continued to conduct on-the-ground research in Afghanistan. We’ve been able to: - Provide more than $1 million in direct support to over 1,000 human rights defenders and refugees — [give to rush 3X more support »]( - Publish major reporting that exposes the potential crimes against humanity that the Taliban is committing against women and girls — [give to power 3X more research »]( - Campaign for the newly reintroduced Afghan Adjustment Act, key legislation that would create a path to citizenship for Afghans seeking safety in the U.S. and expand humanitarian pathways for Afghans at greatest risk left behind — [give to apply 3X the pressure on Congress »]( [Send hope to at-risk Afghans. Button: TODAY ONLY: 3X your impact]( We cannot allow the world to abandon the people of Afghanistan. Without a path to citizenship, tens of thousands of Afghans in the U.S. could be returned to the hands of the Taliban and face retaliation. At the same time, millions of Afghans are trapped in a nightmare awaiting a fateful knock on the door from Taliban authorities. The majority of households face severe water shortage. For as long as it takes, we will demand that Congress pass the Afghan Adjustment Act and give Afghans seeking safety a path to citizenship here in the U.S. and bolster humanitarian pathways for Afghans still in Afghanistan. And we will stay present to hold the Taliban accountable. We will remain a source of hope for all who need it. We count on Amnesty members and supporters like you to be the force behind our work. [Will you make a gift before midnight to TRIPLE your support for women, girls, and everyone fighting for their rights in Afghanistan?]( Thank you, Paul O’Brien Executive Director Amnesty International USA [DONATE NOW]( © 2023 Amnesty International USA 311 W 43rd Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10036 | 1-800-AMNESTY Please don't reply to this email.
