Rush your gift now [View in Browser]( [Amnesty International candle logo]( [5X Match Today Only: Today is International Women's Day! Donate to protect human rights for women and girls. Send 5X the support.]( {NAME}, I’ve been to Afghanistan to document truly horrible human rights violations as the Taliban cruelly and violently denies women and girls their human rights. One of my most memorable interviews was with a 16-year-old girl named Soraya, a talented young piano player. Even after her school was closed and her beloved piano was destroyed while she tried to hide it from Taliban raids, she vowed that women and girls would never surrender or be silenced, saying “the Taliban took everything I had, all my dreams and hopes, but this is not the end.”1 In the face of violence and other repression, and despite losing their freedom overnight, Afghan women and girls are raising their voices against discrimination and inequality — and so are we. {NAME}, you can amplify our collective effort to protect women’s rights by taking advantage of this special opportunity: [Today only, in honor of International Women’s Day and the women and girls in Afghanistan and around the world, your gift will have 5X the impact!]( [The Taliban has decimated the rights of women and girls in Arghanistan. You gift amplifies their call for action.]( Millions of women and girls in Afghanistan are suffering human rights violations under Taliban rule, and we cannot allow ourselves to turn away. In my time in Afghanistan, I’ve heard from women protesters who were detained and tortured by Taliban members who threatened to kill them and their families. I’ve seen mothers forced to marry off their teenage daughters as the economic crisis deepens.2 And I’ve spoken to too many girls who have had their education ripped away from them. Fatima, a 25-year-old high school teacher based in Nangarhar province, summarized the feelings of her students: “These young girls just wanted to have a future, and now they don’t see any future ahead of them... There are millions of Afghan girls waiting for action.” 3 When you donate today, you’ll make a lasting investment in the lives and futures of women and girls in Afghanistan, and around the world. Your support amplifies their calls for action, defends them as they protest injustice, and protects their rights so they can pursue their dreams. [Before this limited-time 5X match ends tonight, make a gift to keep hope alive for Afghan girls and women.]( Thank you for your support, Nicolette [Nicolette Waldman] Nicolette Waldman Researcher, Crisis Response Program Amnesty International [1] [( [2] [( [3] [( [DONATE NOW]( © 2023 Amnesty International USA 311 W 43rd Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10036 | 1-800-AMNESTY Please don't reply to this email.
