Can you help us meet our goal? [View in Browser]( {NAME}, We’re getting close to the 2022 tax deadline, and what we can raise between now and midnight on Saturday will determine the resources we have to protect human rights in 2023. [Will you be one of the 18 people who donate tonight from your area to help us hit our $200,000 goal? All donations are being triple matched by a group of Amnesty members, so it’s the perfect time to fund critical human rights work with this rare 3X match. »]( [Triple my gift]( During the holidays, nothing is sweeter than gathering around a warm meal with your family or friends, but this time of year also reminds me that there are people living in peril, anxiously waiting for a knock on the door from authorities who will take them away from their loved ones. Tonight can be a night of goodwill and positive change — we just need 18 supporters like you to chip in and fuel the fight for human rights in the year ahead. [Please, {NAME}, will you be one of those supporters?]( Thank you,

Subject: [3X Match] My work in crisis zones wouldn't be possible [Amnesty International candle logo]( [Starting today: all gifts 3X-matched »]( {NAME}, This is a big deal: [starting today, a generous group of donors will triple the size of your gift to Amnesty.]( As a human rights researcher working in crisis zones, believe me: We need that tripled support to continue our vital work. I recently documented truly horrible and widespread human rights violations in Afghanistan as the Taliban mercilessly tightens their grip — forced child marriages, women tortured, education and dreams denied. Many organizations have moved on, but Amnesty’s still doing the work — which makes our work (and your support of it) even more essential. Afghan women and girls are counting on us to stand with them. Even as their freedom has been ripped from them, they aren’t going to stand for this, and neither can we. {NAME}, you have an incredible opportunity to protect human rights, by making your first-ever gift to Amnesty today.* [There’s no better moment than now. Help us hit our $200,000 match amount so that we can fully take advantage of this opportunity to triple our impact, and rush $600,000 to where it’s needed most.]( [Protecting human rights in Afghanistan is dangerous -- and more important than ever. Button: Yes, 3X my support.]( When I arrived in Afghanistan after the Taliban took over, my first thought was, “Where are the women?” The streets felt nearly empty of women. It was eerie. But {NAME}, for many women and girls, the risks are too high to even step outside their doors. Still, many were incredibly brave in sharing their stories with me. They refuse to give up. One university student, arrested for appearing in public without a male chaperone, was tortured with electric shocks, threatened with death, and will now carry a heavy stigma through the rest of her life. She told me, “For an Afghan girl, going to prison is no less than death... Once you enter the door, you are labeled, and you cannot erase it.” Another woman, Adila, told me, “For women in Afghanistan, it’s death in slow motion.” That became the title of the major Amnesty report we released to shine a light on what’s happening to Adila and millions more women and girls in Afghanistan. The work was not easy, but I’m proud to say that it contributed to a travel ban for Taliban leadership, which is exactly the type of pressure we wanted to bring. {NAME}, it’s in crises like this that Amnesty needs to show up and work to end injustice. [If you respond today to this 3X matching gift opportunity, we’ll be able to continue our crisis response, including setting aside funds to directly support human rights defenders. Starting now, every $1 you give becomes $3.]( When you give to Amnesty — especially in moments like these when your impact is multiplied — you make sure that human rights abuses are documented, and the evidence used to hold the abusers accountable. I can’t thank you enough, Nicolette Waldman

Amnesty International P.S. {NAME}, it’s scary to say, but as repressive leaders take advantage of economic and political instability, and as winter adds on more challenges for people in countries including Afghanistan, Syria, and Ukraine, Amnesty’s work becomes ever more crucial. [Please, make your tax-deductible donation today to unlock 3X the impact and help reach our $200,000 goal.]( *We are doing our best to keep our records up to date.
