[View in Browser]( [Amnesty International candle logo]( [Don’t miss this 3X match »]( [Man standing behind a Me & Amnesty, Become a Member sign]( Dear {NAME}, I’d like to tell you about Magai Matiop Ngong. As a 15-year-old in South Sudan, Magai used to love running and gospel singing. That all came to an end when Magai was convicted of murder. Even though he told the judge the death of his cousin was an accident, Magai was sentenced to death by hanging, without even being able to get help from a lawyer. Amnesty opposes the death penalty in all cases, and we fought with all our strength to free Magai, who was only a child when he was convicted. After nearly a million Amnesty supporters wrote letters and sent messages to South Sudan officials urging them to cancel his sentence, Magai was finally released this year! {NAME}, my team leads the effort to free individuals like Magai from unjust imprisonment and get people off of death row. With 2023 right around the corner, we desperately need your support to advocate for more people like Magai. Please, [make a donation right now, while it will be 3X matched for three times the impact!]( [3X match: Help people at risk]( Magai spent nearly three years on death row, most of that as a minor. It’s a clear violation of international human rights law — the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, to which South Sudan is a state party. While he was appealing his case, at least two other people were executed in South Sudan for crimes they were convicted of while they were just children. That’s why, while we fought for Magai’s release, we fight for others, too. We expose the injustice of each individual case, fight for accountability, and change laws. {NAME}, we will never look away from human rights abuses like those experienced by Magai, and as a committed Amnesty supporter, you surely feel the same way. Sending letters calls attention to their case, builds pressure for their release — and reminds them that they’re not forgotten. When we act together, we can help people like Magai win their freedom and justice. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
