Dorgelesse is unjustly jailed in Cameroon. Add your name to demand her freedom >> [View in Browser]( [JAILED FOR ATTENDING HER FIRST PROTEST »]( [An image of a portrait of Dorgelesse]( Hi {NAME}, Dorgelesse always dreamed of owning a thriving beauty institute in Cameroon. Two years ago, the single mother was just starting to expand her hairdressing business to include manicures. Then, Dorgelesse’s dream was shattered. She was arrested during a protest in Douala, Cameroon. She hadn’t been politically active before, but she joined the demonstrations out of concerns about the state of Cameroon’s economy. Dorgelesse is one of ten individuals featured in this year’s Write for Rights campaign, the world’s largest grassroots human rights letter-writing effort, launched by Amnesty International. [We’re bringing this letter-writing campaign online — so you can easily take one online action to help these 10 brave people!]( [Our goal is to get 10,000 people — passionate supporters like you — to take action before the end of this month. Will you be one of them?]( It’s simple: The more actions we generate, the more likely we are to positively impact the lives of those who need our help. Please add your name today, {NAME}! Amnesty has documented evidence of ill-treatment, imprisonment, and other abuses against these individuals for their peaceful protesting. And right now, people across the globe are writing cards, sending petitions, and speaking out for those whose human rights are being attacked. Through the power of collective action, your letter can help convince government officials to free people like Dorgelesse and others. Letter writing has always been at the heart of Amnesty International’s work, and over 61 years of activism shows us that words have power. [Add Your Name]( Dorgelesse is the breadwinner of her family. Her 18-year-old son has sickle cell anemia, and she is desperate to be reunited with them. But she has been held for two years in Douala Central Prison, and in December 2021 was sentenced to five years in prison. We’re working tirelessly to push for her freedom. But our power comes from thousands of voices speaking out together — and [that’s why we need you to add your name and speak out.]( [Sign your name to show your support for these activists — including Dorgelesse — who have been attacked, harassed, and imprisoned for expressing their human rights.]( {NAME}, it can feel at times like we are fighting an uphill battle against human rights abuses around the world. But I promise that together, our actions can lead to wins. Write for Rights has freed dozens of people since its inception, and we’re emboldened to free and protect even more people this year.
