Sharing a note from my colleague [View in Browser]( Dear {NAME}, Did you see Donatella’s report-back from Ukraine? Donatella led a team of Amnesty’s crisis investigators on multiple trips to the region over the past five months. Their goal? To document evidence, collect testimonies from witnesses, and ensure Russian military forces are held accountable for committing war crimes. To seek justice for Ukrainians. Amnesty is one of the only organizations doing this work. It’s painstaking, it takes significant resources — and it’s crucial. [That’s why a group of members have agreed to triple match all donations until midnight tonight.]( Today only, every $1 Amnesty receives will become $3 to power our research and human rights work. Subject: I was in Ukraine. Here's what I saw: [Amnesty International candle logo]( 3X Membership Match Upgrade to Power our Ukraine Crisis Response: Amnesty members never turn away from injustice. When human rights are crushed, YOU care enough to act. Can we count on you to become a member today? [Yes, I’ll TRIPLE My Impact Today]( {NAME} — My recent trip to Ukraine will forever haunt me. As I walked through what had once been living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms, my heart ached at the human toll of this war of aggression against Ukrainian civilians. I spoke with survivors who lost loved ones to brutal attacks at the hands of Russian forces. I interviewed some at home in their apartments, and many who were taking shelter in basements underground. It’s impossible to comprehend the crimes committed by Russian military forces, but that’s exactly what I was there to do. As a crisis investigator for Amnesty International, I document war crimes in great detail, so that we can bring justice to victims and survivors. {NAME}, if it weren’t for Amnesty members, I wouldn’t be there, and we wouldn’t have clear evidence of war crimes and human rights violations. You fuel the resources to protect human rights worldwide. YOU are the backbone of our work. [Become a member today — your donation will be TRIPLED in value, thanks to a generous group of donors.]( [Photos of Ukrainians who have died in the Russian invasion]( [The Ukrainians should be alive today. Others look away - But not you.]( [Your support = 3X today]( We’ve documented indiscriminate attacks on civilians and extrajudicial executions in towns including Borodyanka, Kharkiv, Bucha, Andriivka, Zdvyzhivka, and Vorzel. I spoke about these findings to the press, along with my Amnesty colleagues, to call attention to the human rights atrocities in Ukraine. We’re also helping to create a roadmap for prosecutions at the International Criminal Court (ICC) — or any other court in Ukraine or elsewhere. This is how we get real results, {NAME} — this is how your donation gets put to work. Our crisis investigation teams are dispatched to countries around the world to do real-time research and documentation. This work is critical to protect civilians and prevent human rights violations and war crimes committed during conflicts. It’s hard work in difficult conditions, and it can be extremely distressing — but at the end of the day, I know we’re uncovering and documenting the human rights abuses that many wish they could sweep under the rug. But we can’t shine a light on injustice alone — we need the support of Amnesty members. The key to our success lies in the strength of our movement. [Now is the time to join Amnesty as a member with a gift that will TRIPLE your impact on our crisis response work. Help us seek justice for human rights atrocities committed in Ukraine.]( Thank you again — on behalf of my team and all of us here at Amnesty — for your commitment to our all-important work.
