Where do we go from here? [View in Browser]( {NAME}: We knew Roe v. Wade would be overturned — and we’ve been preparing for this outcome. Even so, today’s Supreme Court decision is immensely painful. It’s important that we’re clear on the facts: Abortion restrictions violate a person’s right to control their own body. More than half of the country — 26 states — will lose access to abortion care in their states either totally or near-totally. People will be forced to give birth. They’ll be forced to seek unsafe abortions. This is the outcome of a decades-long campaign to control the bodies of women, girls and people who can become pregnant. It is gender-based violence. It is deeply racist, sexist, and classist, given the communities who will suffer the most. Whatever you’re feeling — anger, fear, betrayal, sadness — you’re not alone. You’re one of the vast majority of Americans who disagree with today’s decision. You’re one of 10 million people around the world who make up this grassroots movement for human rights. This is where our power and our hope springs from: We are the majority. Where do we go from here? Let’s catch our breath, and let’s pick ourselves up. Then let’s get out there and start building the world we want to live in. A world where all of us can make decisions that are best for our lives. Where reproductive health care is accessible to everyone, regardless of your zip code, skin color, or income level. If you’re feeling ready to fight back today, you’ll be in good company. [Today at 5 p.m., join others in your area at protests (click here to find one closest to you).]( If we get loud, it’ll be more difficult for states to strip our rights. If we get loud, it’ll show that we are united across the country in opposition to abortion bans. Here’s something else you can do today: [Send a message to your governor in your state to demand they protect the right to abortion care.]( Whatever state you’re in, your governor MUST hear from you. Human rights violators need to know there will be major consequences for banning abortion. The champions need to do everything in their power to expand abortion access. Want to help organize in your state? The Supreme Court left it up to each state to regulate the right to abortion, and this is EXACTLY where we need you to show up right now. [Sign up here, and an Amnesty Organizer will reach out directly about ways you can get involved in your community.]( We’re all hurting. We need to take care of ourselves. We also need to continue the fight. There is no time to be despondent or, worse, complacent — not when anti-rights groups and politicians are already plotting which right to target next. This movement must come together, we must be ready, and we must reclaim and protect our rights — however long it takes. We’ve done it before, and we will do it again. Remember: We are the majority.
