Turn your anger into action ➡️ {NAME}, this has never happened before: The leaked opinion

Turn your anger into action ➡️ [View in Browser]( [Abortion is a human right, and your senators need to hear that. Act now.]( {NAME}, this has never happened before: The leaked opinion indicates the Supreme Court is going to GUT a human right. But the right to access abortion — the right to make decisions about our own bodies — doesn’t stop with the Supreme Court. {NAME}, we cannot let that happen. This Wednesday, the senate will vote on legislation that would make the right to abortion access the law of the land. We need every single senator to know that an overwhelming majority of Americans want this human right upheld. [Your voice is powerful. Send a letter to your senators right now urging them to vote YES on the Women’s Health Protection Act. Your message will let them know you’re watching how they vote this week.]( [YOUR VOICE MATTERS - ACT NOW]( To ensure social, economic, gender, and reproductive justice for people who can become pregnant, we need to get LOUD and get this bill passed. [That starts right now with making it clear where you stand.]( Without federal legislation, millions of people will suffer from the anticipated decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in June: - 26 states are expected to immediately totally or near-totally ban abortion. That’s more than half of the country. [»]( - Women, girls, and people who can become pregnant will be forced to carry pregnancies against their will or to seek out unsafe abortion. [»]( - Black and Brown people, poor and rural people, Indigenous people, and transgender and gender non–conforming people who can get pregnant will suffer disproportionately. [»]( There is hope. We can use the power of collective action to generate a national tidal wave of pressure on our senators to respect human rights. It won’t be easy, but it IS possible. Generations of people have fought for the right to abortion in the United States. Now is not the time to sit on the sidelines but to make our collective voices heard so that every woman, girl, and person who can become pregnant has the right to abortion access and control over their own bodies. [Tell your senators that forcing someone to carry a pregnancy, for whatever reason, is a grotesque violation of human rights. Urge them to vote YES on Wednesday.]( I can’t help but wonder, what’s next? Which human right will be on the chopping block next? As the rest of the world advances sexual and reproductive rights, the United States is taking a massive step backwards. It was downright terrifying to read the full text of Justice Alito’s draft opinion. His logic leaves the door open to other critical rights being taken away: trans rights, the right to interracial and same-sex marriage, the right to obtain contraceptives, the right to engage in private, consensual sexual acts. We must be ready to apply the full force of this movement for human rights. Feeling especially grateful to have you fighting the good fight by our side, Tarah Demant Director of Gender, Sexuality, and Identity Program Amnesty International USA P.S. [We need you to urge your senators right now to vote YES on Wednesday for the right to an abortion — and hold them accountable to the will of their constituents.]( © 2022 Amnesty International USA 311 W 43rd Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10036 | 1-800-AMNESTY Please don't reply to this email.
