Yet gun violence continues to plague American schools. In fact, last month was the first March without a school shooting in the US since 2002. {NAME}: It shouldn’t take schools closing their doors to prevent mass shootings. That’s why I have been a proud and vocal advocate for gun violence prevention measures in Congress. I voted to ban large-capacity ammunition like the weapons used at Virginia Tech and Columbine, and to allow victims and their families to sue weapons manufacturers for the harm their guns cause. In honor of the victims lost in these devastating shootings, I vow to continue the fight for gun safety reform in Congress, so that all children can go to school free of worry.
