It will allow GPs across England to refer lonely patients to community activities and includes a trial partnership with Royal Mail to get postal workers checking in on isolated people. It also includes a specific budget for things like community cafés and gardens. This is a huge step forward in helping to tackle a big problem – because sadly, there are 2.65 million people aged 65 and over in the UK who feel they have no one to turn to for help and support.
