They were tired of police harassment because of their sexuality, and tired of the way they were being treated by society. The ripples of those riots were felt all over the world. The older generation of LGBT+ people have been through some terrible struggles, but they have paved the way to a more open and accepting society for the younger generation. That's why Age UK Oldham's Out and About group for older LGBT+ people (pictured above) is so important for people to share experiences, understand their rights, and make friends.
