I am excited to share our impact in 2023. [View in browser]( [World Food Program USA.]( [DONATE]( {NAME}, I'm Dorota Amin, the new chief philanthropy officer at World Food Program USA. Since 2019, I have been fortunate to advance the life-changing work of this organization by leading the Corporate Partnerships program. Today, I want to share with you our [2023 Statement of Impact](, a report that highlights how the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) addresses global hunger and invests in programs that change lives. I hope this Statement of Impact connects you to our mission and shows the transformational difference YOU can make when you support World Food Program USA. [A boy in Gaza receives food from WFP.]( In Gaza, Mostafa eats freshly baked manakish made with wheat flour and olive oil that his parents received in their WFP food basket. The WFP basket is crucial for families in conflict zones. In October, a new wave of conflict emerged in Gaza. Amidst an escalation of violence, it's now nearly impossible for civilians to access food, water or electricity. Nearly 90% of Gaza's population is displaced. Since October, WFP has provided food and cash assistance to nearly 1 million people through its emergency response. Food is a lifeline for those affected by conflict and can help build a pathway to peace. [A family displaced form Sudan in Egypt. ]( Last year, Etimad, her mother and her siblings fled the conflict Sudan. They now live in Egypt and receive cash assistance from WFP. In April 2023, conflict erupted in Sudan and the humanitarian situation quickly deteriorated. The onset of violence exacerbated the country's ongoing hunger crisis. An estimated 20.3 million people face severe hunger. Despite access issues due to the complex dynamics of the conflict, WFP provided food assistance to 6.5 million people by the end 2023. [A mother and her child in Madagascar,]( People, like Sambeazee, relied on cactus fruit to feed their families, during the drought in Madagascar. Now, WFP's RRT initiative makes water more accessible and provides small-scale farmers with a source of food and income. Madagascar is among the top 10 countries most vulnerable to climate disasters, which is a key driver of hunger in the region. Nearly 2 million people experience severe hunger. WFP's Rapid Rural Transformation (RRT) program provides remote communities with vital services including solar-powered hubs, a sustainable water source and online health check-ups — all of which greatly improve people's quality of life. These scalable solutions help communities build food security and resilience to climate shocks.
