YOU can do something about it. [View in browser]( [World Food Program USA.]( [DONATE]( In the time it will take you to read this email, 12 children will die from hunger-related causes. [Please help us now.]( Read time: 2 minutes When I read Nyaruan Chop's story, I immediately thought to reach out to you, {NAME}. As a part of the World Food Program USA community, I know how important ending global hunger is to you. Nyaruan, a resilient 19-year-old mother, grapples with the impacts of the devastating climate crisis firsthand. Recent flooding from extreme weather in South Sudan destroyed her corn farm, a vital source of food and income for her and her one-year-old son, Chuong. Without a stable source of food or income, Nyaruan turned to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) for help. Nyaruan and Chuong aren't alone. Almost 65% of people living in South Sudan are facing extreme hunger. Children are expected to face extreme levels of malnutrition in 2024 as the climate crisis tightens its grip on the country. If we don't help communities adjust to the new reality of the climate crisis, hunger and malnutrition will increase. [There's only a limited time for your first gift to be matched which can send DOUBLE the urgently needed food to a family facing extreme hunger in places like South Sudan.]( You can make a difference today. [A Mom and her son stand in flooded waters in South Sudan.]( Nyaruan Chop and her one-year-old son Chuong at their corn farm destroyed by floods. An unprecedented, multi-year flooding event is sweeping through South Sudan and exacerbating the country's hunger crisis. The dire circumstances in South Sudan are tragically part of a larger global hunger crisis. Right now, we are facing record-breaking levels of hunger amidst the biggest funding shortfall in the U.N. World Food Programme's 60-year history. Your support is needed now more than ever. Because this moment is so critical, a group of generous donors has stepped forward with a matching gift to double your impact as we strive to provide 10 million lifesaving meals by year end. [Every dollar you give secures two more meals for communities facing unrelenting crises]( in places like South Sudan, Afghanistan and Madagascar. For Nyaruan, Chuong and countless others, your action today is vital. Sincerely, Robin Benatti Director of Philanthropy World Food Program USA Our Future Begins With Food.
