The need is urgent. [World Food Program USA.]( [[Goer], her newborn son and his strengthening grip are proof that nutritional aid does make all the difference. - David Muir, ABC World News Tonight.]( [DONATE NOW]( {NAME}, Multiple years of unprecedented flooding have permanently expanded the wetlands of South Sudan, putting farmland under water, causing crops to drown, killing livestock and forcing millions of people from their homes. David Muir and his team from ABC News saw firsthand the reality South Sudanese are experiencing due to this climate crisis. [SEND SUPPORT NOW]( United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) assistance is crucial in South Sudan, especially for mothers and their children. One in six children here is malnourished. Mothers are forced to feed their children water lilies, which grow in the floodwaters, to keep their bellies full. Despite record levels of hunger in the country, funds are not keeping pace with rising needs. This makes it difficult for the U.N. World Food Programme to support the most vulnerable people in South Sudan. [Please rush a gift of $25 that can provide 50 mothers with nutritious meals, supporting multiple generations.]( [Women walking in flooded land in South Sudan.]( Women going to collect water lilies in a flooded area. The harvest of water lilies is an exhausting and dangerous task. They are exposed to snakebites, diseases and even crocodile attacks. Water lilies are consumed only in cases of extreme hunger. Many children suffer from diarrheal diseases because they have no clean water to drink or are fed very poor-quality meals. Recently, 20 children were admitted in one day to a local hospital in Bentiu for malnutrition treatment. Muir visited some of the children at the hospital, including Goer who is almost two months old and weighs under four pounds. Goer was admitted to the hospital because his mom, Nyadier, was unable to find enough food to feed herself, which limited her breast milk production. [A box of Plumpy'Sup.]( A box of ready-to-use food, Plumpy'Sup, treats children with moderate acute malnutrition, like Goer, at Bentiu State Hospital. With your help, we can save more lives in South Sudan. [Please consider making a recurring monthly gift and a lasting impact on families like Naydier and Goer.]( For a limited time, a generous donor will match your first three monthly gifts to South Sudan, effectively tripling your impact and support of our humanitarian response. [TRIPLE MY IMPACT]( Thank you for your support and commitment to this work. {NAME}, we couldn't do it without philanthropists like you.
