On the Path... [View in Web Browser]( [CLICK HERE to Book your FREE 15-minute coaching call with Dylan]( Hi {NAME}, When good person is separated from purpose, connection, and community, a strange and sad thing happens. They begin to drown. With nothing within to hold onto, and nothing without to work towards, they lose inner stability and grasp wildly for a sense of control over something... anything. And just outside of themselves, just beyond their own inner sense of frustration and disappointment, are a million distractions and engineered causes for the ego to latch on to. The dopamine drip of clever products and media, social feedback loops, and artificial belonging might mask or dilute their silent suffering for a spell, but eventually their soul screams, demanding that the crisis be addressed in a way which honors the true potential of their spirit. They either muster the full substance of their courage to overcome and engage their higher calling, or give in fully to apathy, despair, avoidance and escapism. Look, our culture is engineered for us to substitute genuine purpose for the artificial sense of meaning we get from believing in and devoting ourselves to causes which are not our own. It's a way of stealing your energy. Even for truth seekers.... especially for truth-seekers... the price we pay for falling into this trap is the curse of noble struggling. Our own lives are less than they could be or should be, but we tolerate it by telling ourselves that our suffering has meaning in the big scheme of things. But it does not. It's a lie. You're not here to struggle indefinitely. You're not here to wrestle endlessly with things you have zero control or influence over. You're not here to forfeit your energy, awareness, time, and good intention to the matrix, while your personal life slips further into overwhelm, frustration, anxiety, fear and doubt. It's not the life you are meant to live, and there is so much more available to you. But most of us pay far more attention to the world outside ourselves than we do to the world within. I know this to be true from my personal experiences, and from what I see from the vantage point as a self-mastery coach. It's no accident that we are squarely focused on the outer happenings and not the inner, because, we are socially conditioned to avoid inner truth. We've been conditioned to run from our inner world. We've been programmed to seek any respite we can find from the unsettling truth of what's happening in our own microcosmic world. And so we live in a state of suspended animation, trauma bonded to a worldview, fully engaging the coping mechanisms of avoidance, distraction, and escapism. Feverishly hoping to change how we feel about our lives by somehow changing the world. "Escape is the avoidance of feelings through diversion. Escapism and avoidance of inner awareness is a socially conditioned mechanism. We can avoid our own inner selves and keep our feelings from emerging by an endless variety of pursuits, many of which eventually become addictions as our dependency upon them grows. People are desperate to stay unconscious. People are terrified of facing themselves." - David Hawkins, [Letting Go]( I haven't penned this newsletter in a few months, and haven't been posting much content at [Waking Times](, because I've been focused on the next level of my own personal growth, which has involved lots of coaching with clients, and deepening my own capacity to walk my talk and create the experience I want from my life.
