I hope you had a great Christmas!  Have you made your Product Resolutions yet? 👀 No? OK, ok, I get it it. You're over resolutions. I'm over resolutions too. I bought & didn't finish too many courses last year to pretend it will be magically different this year 🙄 [Thumbnail for video]( [Watch my first video rant of 2023!]( But despite the general #mood in the industry, it's not very advisable to go straight into the product equivalent of "[Goblin mode](" and just pretend your sagging user activation rates, bloated churn rates, or low feature adoption just don't exist. [Image] A lot of PMs I talk to use the recession as an excuse not to work on their lagging metrics. But not everyone - here are some resolutions that the product experts I asked in the  [Product Trends]( survey for 2023. Maybe they'll give you some food for thought: -  [Lenka Brozmanova](, CMO at Nicereply, said her New Year's resolution was to “Improve [user activation]( and [feature adoption](”. - “My goal for the next year will be to do my best to help my team of PMs to be as successful as they can be. [Activation](,[feature adoption]( and retention will just be one of the outcomes of that effort.” - said [Vazgen Babayan,]( Group Product Manager at Adobe - [Parth Shrivastava](, the Lead Product Marketer at Bureau, Inc, had there resolutions: “1) Improving the conversion rates on the entire funnel 2) Move from a sales-led to Product-led strategy and 3) Improve customer marketing.” Wanna improve these metrics too? Grab these 3 resources to help you improve your user activation, feature adoption, and make your company more product-led. 👉 #1 If you want to improve your [user activation, grab our 8-step framework:Â]( [Image]( This [short ebook]( covers: 1) defining your key activation points 2) measuring your activation rate using the right metrics 3) building a welcome screen with a microsurvey to segment your new users by personas + JTBD (Jobs to Be Done) and personalize their onboarding accordingly 4) building in-app checklists to drive users to the activation point 5) creating interactive walkthroughs for each action leading to the activation point, and linking them to the checklist items. 6) using onboarding gamification. 🎯 7) offering in-app support. 8) using email to bring users back and increase activation 💌  #2 Here's a great resource for [improving Product AdoptionÂ](  Building all these amazing features and feeling like your users just simply...turn a blind eye? 😉 Feature blindness is a thing. It occurs when users are too focused on the features they are already using, and neglect all the other cool features that could be helpful for them. Let's change that in 2023 💪 Meanwhile, here's what you should know about it: - Feature blindness is rooted in human psychology — aka the brain’s instinctual ability to filter out unnecessary information and respond only to certain stimuli. - It affects your [engagement]( and [retention rates](. Customers who don’t experience the full value of your app will easily drop off when competitors come with new shiny products. - Feature blindness can happen across all the [customer journey stages](, so it’s vital to create solutions that aim to reactivate features for users at different stages. - You can overcome feature blindness by identifying power features and reintroducing them to [disengaged users](. - Another thing you can do is [segment users]( to quickly pinpoint what features are important for the different user segments and [drive engagement]( for those features. - Product Adoption Software (like [Userpilot]( 😎 book a call now so we can help you achieve your product adoption resolutions in 2023!) helps you [track feature usage,]( discover the least used features of your product and [drive adoption]( for neglected features. - Use [checklists]( to prompt [secondary feature discovery]( and help customers engage with what seems hidden in plain sight. - Keeping an updated changelog is vital as users get to see the changes you’ve made even if they miss it on their dashboards. - Send “what’s new” emails to lagging users highlighting the changes you’ve made to the app since it’s very likely they haven’t seen your [in-app notifications](. - Hotspots and native [tooltips]( are great for highlighting features and showing how those features can help your users reach their goals. [Image] #3 If you're looking to make your company more product-led - Download Product Rantz [here!]( If you still make your customers jump on a call with Customer Support every time they stumble upon a UX issue, it's high time to make your SaaS more product-led in 2023. How to do that? 👉 start small from adding self-serve support resources in a Resource Center available in-app + a few native tooltips providing extra info about tricky features. Learn more from Product Rantz - probably the most light-hearted way to learn about PLG, as well as the painful (and embarrassing) consequences of not following its best practices - SOON also available as a paperback on Amazon so you can secretly slide it down your PLG-allergic boss's door...
