They thrive in isolation, but you are not alone. Having a body can feel heavy. The world we live in sets so many requirements, most of which feel unattainable. We are asked to see certain features as good and others as undesirable. And sometimes, when things feel out of control, we try to gain back that control through food or exercise. No matter where you are today in your body journey, we want you to know that your worth is not based on a number on the scale or how much space you take up. You are loved and you are deserving of joy and peace. We know that living with an eating disorder can feel intense and sometimes messy. We want you to know that we're here for you through all of it. If you yourself are struggling or know someone who is, we hope you'll spend a few minutes today discovering the resources available and keeping the reminders close. Having a body can feel heavy. If you yourself are struggling or know someone who is, we hope you'll spend a few minutes today discovering the resources available and keeping the reminders close. The truth about eating disorders. The truth about eating disorders. There aren't always hard and fast lines when it comes to eating disorders. They can and do affect people of every age, body type, sexuality, gender identity, race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic group. You may be familiar with certain labels—bulimia, anorexia, binge eating—and while those realities are part of this conversation, we want you to know that like all other mental illnesses we discuss, those who are impacted by eating disorders may not look anything like what you'd expect. Eating disorders are a leading cause of death when it comes to mental illnesses, only second to opioid overdose. Globally, 70 million people are living with an eating disorder. This disease thrives in isolation. If you are struggling, we know it can feel terrifying, overwhelming, and hopeless. You are not alone, even if it feels like it. You or someone you know may think about food or weight too many times to count. Dressing rooms or dinner tables may bring on a sense of terror or panic. Calorie counting may bring a false sense of relief within the chaos. We're here to share facts and resources to both dismantle stigma and create awareness.
