Last week’s decision by Hollywood studios to stymie actors and writers, who are seeking fair wages and proper usage of their likenesses and talents as the age of artificial intelligence dawns, means we’re looking at a widespread drought of television series and movies while work stops. You probably won’t really feel it for a few months, unless you’re a regular follower of late-night talk shows, but come fall, you’ll wonder why every channel is showing some version of [no-names singing or Gordon Ramsey screaming at amateur chefs](. Lowest common denominator television: Get used to it! There are going to be a lot of strike-busting tactics and media manipulations out there (the studios still run the news networks), so please bear that in mind when you read the inevitable sensational headlines as things devolve into a nasty PR battle for public opinion. In the meantime, there are still several big pre-strike options coming out, and this week is a particularly good one for them. Here’s what to watch this week. -Tim   Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!   LIMITED SERIES PREMIERES TUESDAY AT 10/9C ON FX [Justified: City Primeval is the rare franchise continuation that’s as good as the original]( Timothy Olyphant kindly dusted off his big ol' hat and silver tongue to reprise his role as Raylan Givens in this limited series Justified spin-off. City Primeval finds Raylan living in Miami with his teenage daughter (played by Olyphant's actual daughter, Vivian Olyphant) before he ends up in Detroit and becomes involved with a violent criminal called the Oklahoma Wildman (Boyd Holbrook). [Reviews have been overwhelmingly positive]( and Raylan is the kind of character who is immune to reboot/spin-off curses, so you know it’s going to be good. You don’t have to have seen the original run of Justified to enjoy this, but it would still raise another concern: You haven’t seen Justified?[Here’s everything we know about City Primeval](. -Allison Picurro SEASON 3 PREMIERES THURSDAY ON NETFLIX [Pour yourself a margarita, because Sweet Magnolias is back]( Finally, it's Sweet Mags season. The cozy small-town drama series returns to dig into the aftermath of the fight at Sullivan's, which promises to affect not only Cal (Justin Bruening) but also his relationship with Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher). Meanwhile, Helen (Heather Headley) has a proposal from her ex to respond to, and Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott) will have to manage a huge check from Miss Frances. [Here's everything we know about Season 3](. Now let's get these ladies some margaritas while they cope. -Kelly Connolly SEASON 2 PREMIERES FRIDAY AT 9/8C ON STARZ [Minx is a daring (and baring) comedy about skin and feminism]( The artist formerly known as HBO Max really fumbled the ball on this one, but thankfully Starz snatched up Minx — a 1970s-set comedy about the publishing team behind the first erotic magazine made for women — for Season 2 before Jake Johnson's chest hair could get lost in the ether. This time around, Doug (Johnson) and Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond) aren't struggling to get Minx off the ground, but are navigating its overwhelming success and all the money and notoriety that comes with it. And yes, Season 2 gifts us with the sight of Johnson in more glorious '70s outfits. -Allison Picurro SERIES PREMIERE SUNDAY ON PARAMOUNT+ [Special Ops: Lioness features Taylor Sheridan’s most A-list cast]( While you’re wasting time doing menial things like “sleeping” or “eating,” Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is pumping out the hit shows. The prolific TV producer’s newest series is this spy thriller with a killer cast that includes Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman. Saldaña stars as a member of a military program that trains female operatives to infiltrate terrorist organizations to destroy them from within, and Locke & Key’s Laysla De Oliveira plays the new recruit who finds the job more difficult than it seems. There are no cowboy hats, but it will feature Sheridan’s trademark storytelling. [Here’s everything we know about it](. [Unsubscribe]( © 2023 TV Guide, A Fandom, Inc. company. All rights reserved.
