I just checked with the CDC, and the kind scientist with the sore throat on the other end of the phone confirmed to me that 100 percent of Americans are sick. There are so many viruses and variants out there that some are even sick with two things at the same time! Take care of yourself by nestling under a blanket and having a bedside mug of chicken noodle soup handy, while watching some good TV. I’ve got some recommendations below. -Tim [Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!](WpR4YYDUN:m:1:2364960064:66318193319A9AECC6AB4C5A47121E74:r) WpR4YYDUN:m:1:2364960064:66318193319A9AECC6AB4C5A47121E74:r SERIES OUT TUESDAY ON HULU [Kindred time-travels through the horrors of American history](WpR4YYDUN:m:1:2364960064:66318193319A9AECC6AB4C5A47121E74:r) This genre-bending series adaptation of Octavia E. Butler's genre-bending 1979 novel is a sci-fi psychological thriller about race and generational trauma. It's an ambitious show with big ideas. Kindred follows Dana James (Mallori Johnson), a young Black woman and aspiring writer who moves to Los Angeles and becomes unstuck in time, flashing back and forth between the present and a plantation in 1815, a place to where she and her family are intimately connected. Zola's Janicza Bravo directs the pilot, and Darren Aronofsky is an executive producer. Reviews have mostly been positive; [in his review](WpR4YYDUN:m:1:2364960064:66318193319A9AECC6AB4C5A47121E74:r), Keith Phipps thought some of the TV translation was a little sluggish, but he liked the themes and is eager to see where it goes next. All eight episodes of Season 1 come out on Tuesday, Dec. 13. –Liam Mathews WpR4YYDUN:m:1:2364960064:66318193319A9AECC6AB4C5A47121E74:r SEASON 2 OUT TUESDAY ON NETFLIX [Last Chance U: Basketball is an inspiring docuseries about athletes and mentors](WpR4YYDUN:m:1:2364960064:66318193319A9AECC6AB4C5A47121E74:r) One of the best docuseries I have ever seen was the first season of Last Chance U: Basketball, a spin-off of the Emmy-winning and football-centric Last Chance U series. Cameras get up close with the East Los Angeles College Huskies, a top-ranked basketball program in its division that boasts talented hoopsters looking to mend past mistakes and get a shot at transferring to a bigger Division I program, with many players seeing this as their last opportunity to make something of their lives. They’re coached by the inspiring John Mosley, the show’s real star, who shapes these young men both on and off the court, providing the guidance many of these athletes have never had. The personal stories are emotional and the game footage is intense, a mix that makes it incredibly bingeable. WpR4YYDUN:m:1:2364960064:66318193319A9AECC6AB4C5A47121E74:r SPECIAL EPISODE THURSDAY ON NETFLIX [Who Killed Santa?: A Murderville Mystery is an improv holiday hoot and Arrested Development reunion](WpR4YYDUN:m:1:2364960064:66318193319A9AECC6AB4C5A47121E74:r) I thought Murderville, an improv comedy show in which Will Arnett plays a cop investigating murders with a new celebrity guest who isn’t given a script and has no idea what’s happening, was canceled after its first season. But look what’s under the tree: a holiday special! This time, Will Arnett’s Terry Seattle is getting help from Jason Bateman and Maya Rudolph to find out who murdered Santa. It’s a perfectly silly show, anchored by Arnett’s impressive off-the-cuff skills and the ticking time bomb of who will break character and laugh first.
