I spent the last week a little sick and stuck inside, so I binged all of Part 1 of Firefly Lane Season 2 on Netflix. It’s a series about two women (played by Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke) who are longtime friends and support each other but also constantly get mad at each other and have big blow-ups. It also needlessly jumps around from decade to decade and doesn’t do a good job of letting you know when the action is happening, unless you can identify the time period by the wig that the main male character (Ben Lawson) is wearing. There’s also a string of episodes that all end on the same cliffhanger, very bad green screen CGI, and a substantial amount of throwing up in it. In other words, it’s terrible and you should watch it. If that doesn’t sound good to you, I don’t blame you, and you can watch one of the picks below instead. -Tim [Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!](W4Qs4CDIN:m:1:2364960064:3D833303064C77AA9E17FB44B433EE67:r) W4Qs4CDIN:m:1:2364960064:3D833303064C77AA9E17FB44B433EE67:r SEASON 2 PREMIERE OUT TODAY ON APPLE TV+ [Little America is a must-see for anyone with a heart](W4Qs4CDIN:m:1:2364960064:3D833303064C77AA9E17FB44B433EE67:r) If you need a nice pick-me-up from the ills of the world, this anthology series from Kumail Nanjiani, Emily V. Gordon, and Master of None's Alan Yang is a good bet. Each episode of Little America is based on the true stories of immigrants in America, showing off their successes and experiences in humorous and heartwarming fashion, like the Indian spelling bee whiz who ran his parents' hotel after they were deported and petitioned Laura Bush to help him get them back. Season 2 continues the series’ knack for speaking truths and celebrating the human spirit. W4Qs4CDIN:m:1:2364960064:3D833303064C77AA9E17FB44B433EE67:r OUT TODAY ON NETFLIX [Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio is the best Pinocchio, no lie](W4Qs4CDIN:m:1:2364960064:3D833303064C77AA9E17FB44B433EE67:r) It took Guillermo del Toro a decade to bring this passion project, a stop-motion adaptation of the timeless tale of the puppet who wants to be a real boy, to life. GDT's take is steeped in his signature allegorical style of dark fantasy, setting the story in fascist 1930s Italy and making Pinocchio much less cute than the Disney version of popular imagination. It's the second Pinocchio movie to come out in a few months, and by all accounts vastly superior to the Disney+ one; it's heavily favored to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. –Liam Mathews W4Qs4CDIN:m:1:2364960064:3D833303064C77AA9E17FB44B433EE67:r SEASON 2 PREMIERES TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT ON HBO [Random Acts of Flyness is experimental weirdness like you’ve never seen](W4Qs4CDIN:m:1:2364960064:3D833303064C77AA9E17FB44B433EE67:r) One of television's most fascinating rides of the last decade was artist Terence Nance's 2018 series Random Acts of Flyness, a beautiful, avante-garde, freak-fest of filmmaking that could kind of be called sketch comedy but is probably better described as experimental film about the Black experience. Season 2 focuses on ancestral power, with each episode exploring a different dimension. If that description sounds a little hazy, it's because it is. Have you seen this show? It's wild, and excellent. W4Qs4CDIN:m:1:2364960064:3D833303064C77AA9E17FB44B433EE67:r

If you need a zig while everyone else zags, how about a new Christmas movie that isn’t so cheery? There are a pair out today: Shudder’s Christmas Bloody Christmas, about a robotic Santa that goes on a murderous rampage, and Hulu’s It’s a Wonderful Binge, a Purge parody about one day of the year when all drugs and booze are legal… and that day happens to fall on Christmas. Both are on our list of the [best new Christmas movies to watch this season](W4Qs4CDIN:m:1:2364960064:3D833303064C77AA9E17FB44B433EE67:r). W4Qs4CDIN:m:1:2364960064:3D833303064C77AA9E17FB44B433EE67:r
