Stop browsing, start watching! The best TV shows and movies to watch on every screen s5Xz-JhNy:m:1:2364960064:FCADD4D359451ED7D01AC77DFEE2BBD3:r Hi!
Despite being in the heart of premiere week for the fall season, this weekend’s new television offerings are, to put it mildly, embarrassingly pathetic (not you, Bob’s Burgers). So get ready for a weird edition of this newsletter with a trio of recommendations that normally wouldn’t make the cut because they’re sports, have been out for a little while, or are virtual babysitters. If that doesn’t do it for you, then my one re-recommendation is to watch this season of FX’s Reservation Dogs (streaming on Hulu), which is having an incredible sophomore season. The phrase “there’s nothing like it on television” gets thrown out a lot, but in this case it’s 100% true. Here are some weekend watches. -Tim [Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!](s5Xz-JhNy:m:1:2364960064:FCADD4D359451ED7D01AC77DFEE2BBD3:r) s5Xz-JhNy:m:1:2364960064:FCADD4D359451ED7D01AC77DFEE2BBD3:r OUT NOW ON NETFLIX [Heartbreak High is teen dramedy for Euphoria and Sex Education fans](s5Xz-JhNy:m:1:2364960064:FCADD4D359451ED7D01AC77DFEE2BBD3:r) As an American, I was completely unaware of the 1990s Australian high school drama Heartbreak High, so I can’t speak on how Netflix’s new version stays true to the original, but in a field of streaming series tackling teen troubles, it’s one of the better ones out there. The kicking off point sees high schooler Amerie (Ayesha Madon) in trouble for creating a map of who has hooked up with whom, forcing the school to throw its Gen Z students into a special class teaching responsible sex education. Sure, there are hookups, drama, and typical hallway cruelty, but what makes Heartbreak High better than others is the core story of a decaying friendship between two girls, the excellent representation of queer and autistic characters, and the emphasis on positive emotional support that leaves you feeling good while still not pulling punches. Oh! And the accents, mate. It’s more optimistic than Euphoria and less silly than Sex Education. I’m shocked more people aren’t talking about this show. s5Xz-JhNy:m:1:2364960064:FCADD4D359451ED7D01AC77DFEE2BBD3:r TODAY AT 7:05 PM ET/4:05 PM PT ON APPLE TV+ [Watch baseball history ruined by greedy streaming deals](s5Xz-JhNy:m:1:2364960064:FCADD4D359451ED7D01AC77DFEE2BBD3:r) New York Yankees big hunk of beef Aaron Judge is on the precipice of history, just one home run shy of tying Roger Maris’ coveted dinger tally of 61, which would make Judge the first player who didn’t inject steroids into his buttocks to do so. Obviously, Yankees and sports fans are abuzz over watching it happen live tonight. There’s just one problem: It’s not airing on the network that typically airs Yankees games because the team and Major League Baseball cut deals with streamers for exclusive broadcast rights. This season, various Yankees games have been exclusively on YES, Peacock, Apple TV+, and Amazon Prime Video, a complicated labyrinth of remote controls and HDMI inputs for an old lady from the Bronx still wearing a Yogi Berra jersey. Tonight’s game vs. the rival Red Sox [can only be watched on Apple TV+](s5Xz-JhNy:m:1:2364960064:FCADD4D359451ED7D01AC77DFEE2BBD3:r), despite the Yankees whining about it while counting the cash they made off the deal. The game is still free, and the clarity of Apple TV+ MLB broadcasts is incredible (though the broadcast team is pretty bad), but a lot of tech-adverse fans are going to miss out on this. s5Xz-JhNy:m:1:2364960064:FCADD4D359451ED7D01AC77DFEE2BBD3:r NOW ON PEACOCK [Attention parents! Minions: Rise of Gru is now streaming](s5Xz-JhNy:m:1:2364960064:FCADD4D359451ED7D01AC77DFEE2BBD3:r) Just one look at [Netflix’s Top 10 Movies list](s5Xz-JhNy:m:1:2364960064:FCADD4D359451ED7D01AC77DFEE2BBD3:r) will tell you that Illumination’s Despicable Me franchise is massive. The newest movie in the series, 2022’s Minions: Rise of Gru, is now streaming on Peacock. You’ll need a subscription to watch it, as it’s not on Peacock’s free tier, but the good news is that Peacock is running a deal that breaks down a [subscription for just two bucks a month](s5Xz-JhNy:m:1:2364960064:FCADD4D359451ED7D01AC77DFEE2BBD3:r). While the kids watch Rise of Gru, you can watch the excellent Viking drama The Northman, that dumb new Jurassic Park movie, or Girls5eva, one of the best comedies on TV. s5Xz-JhNy:m:1:2364960064:FCADD4D359451ED7D01AC77DFEE2BBD3:r
