Not only are the production values at an all-time high, but the episodes are at an all-time LONG. The seven episodes that make up Part 1 average an hour and 17 minutes, but the series needs all that time with its myriad plotlines, which see the gang split up over several states and a few countries as a new horror terrorizes Hawkins. It’s still Stranger Things but with a lot of extra stuff thrown on top of it, [as I say in my review](WvhO4shN6:m:1:2364960064:40ED56BE965AFF44D2EFD3F20BC11E0A:r). Did I like it? Yes…? Did I think it could have been improved? Yes. Is Steve still the best? Absolutely. WvhO4shN6:m:1:2364960064:40ED56BE965AFF44D2EFD3F20BC11E0A:r SERIES PREMIERE OUT TODAY ON DISNEY+ [Obi-Wan Kenobi is a worthwhile return to the Stars Wars universes](WvhO4shN6:m:1:2364960064:40ED56BE965AFF44D2EFD3F20BC11E0A:r) What’s Obi-Wan Kenob-een up to? What’s he been d-Ewan? That’s what this new Star Wars series attempts to answer, as it bridges the gap between the Star Wars prequels and the original trilogy with regards to its sage Jedi master Obi-Wan, who’s in hiding following a universe-wide ban on Jedis, so to speak. Ewan McGregor reprises his role here in a six-episode self-contained story that really feels like a “pro” in the argument for Star Wars saturation, especially after the merely OK Boba Fett series, as a group of pasty clowns called the Inquisitors hunt Obi-Wan down. Two episodes are out today, but they’re both good, leaving us hopeful for the whole series. WvhO4shN6:m:1:2364960064:40ED56BE965AFF44D2EFD3F20BC11E0A:r SEASON 1 OUT TODAY ON HULU [Shoresy would hip check Ted Lasso through the boards](WvhO4shN6:m:1:2364960064:40ED56BE965AFF44D2EFD3F20BC11E0A:r) This spin-off of Canadian comedy Letterkenny gives more screen time to one of the show's most popular characters, hockey bro and insult dispenser Shoresy. And when I say more screen time, I mean it; we'll actually see the normally hidden Shoresy's face. And you know what? He looks an awful lot like Letterkenny creator Jared Keeso. Letterkenny's been quality for years, and Keeso brings the artful banter he’s known for to this more focused series that’s packed with vulgar clapbacks and high emotion — both the expected competitive intensity and the surprising sports sentimentality — as it digs into what it means to be part of a team. In a weekend packed with high-profile releases, Shoresy was my favorite. Warning: It’s so extremely Canadian that you might need a translator, but that’s part of its charm. The indie film follows a pair of young Black college seniors (RJ Cyler and Donald Elise Watkins) ready to let loose in a string of parties before spring break when they discover an unconscious white girl in their apartment, with no idea how she got there. Realizing the bad optics of the situation, they (and their Latino roommate) set out to return her to safety without their good intentions being misinterpreted. The movie [got great reviews](WvhO4shN6:m:1:2364960064:40ED56BE965AFF44D2EFD3F20BC11E0A:r) when it did the festival circuit earlier this year.
