Stop browsing, start watching! The best TV shows and movies to watch on every screen WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r Happy Friday! The Television Critics Association press tour — where networks preview their wares to TV critics in panel-style sessions — has been going on over the last two weeks, and one of the highlights each tour is a sit-down with John Landgraf, the head of FX and one of the smartest people in the business. He’s famous for coining the term “Peak TV” and tracking how many shows get made each year (there were 559 scripted shows in 2021, proof that we really are drowning in TV), but this year he felt like one of us when he was talking about release schedules for TV shows. Some drop their seasons all at once (Netflix is famous for pioneering the binge model), some drop a few episodes to start and then roll out episodes weekly (HBO Max and Hulu, sometimes, to name a few), and others still go with weekly (mostly broadcast and cable channels). Landgraf is just as confused as us when it comes to knowing when we’ll be able to watch what we want to watch, and it sounds like that’s not getting any clearer moving forward. Some FX shows will be released on Hulu all at once, some will come weekly, and there’s no real way to say which will be which. Give me a few episodes and then roll new ones out weekly, I say. But also give me everything at once! I don’t think this will ever get solved. Here’s what to watch this weekend. (Watch Severance!) -Tim [Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!](WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r) WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r SERIES PREMIERE NOW ON APPLE TV+ [Severance is a brilliant indictment of corporate employment](WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r) I didn’t have time to review this new workplace sci-fi/thriller, but if I had, I would have called it easily the best (and weirdest) show of 2022 so far. Severance is set at a company that offers its employees a unique procedure: an implanted chip that divides their consciousness into a work self and an out-of-the-office self, so that the two lives are lived separately. (Amazon is drooling over this tech.) Of course the company is up to no good, and the division between lives blurs as employees get closer to the truth, making Severance a conspiracy-laden thriller and a harsh critique of today’s back-breaking and soul-sucking employment norms. It’s got an incredible cast that includes Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, and Christopher Walken, and the Kubrick-like direction is stunning. Two episodes are out today, with new episodes weekly. And I don’t say this often, but this is a show that works best as a binge, so get a taste now, but don’t be afraid to wait until all the episodes are out. WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r SEASON 4 PREMIERE NOW ON AMAZON PRIME VIDEO [The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is pulling out all the stops](WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r) If you can believe it, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel hasn't put out a new season since 2019, which means you might have forgotten all about the mortifying ending to Season 3, where Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) was fired from her gig opening for Shy {NAME} (Leroy McClain) after making some uncool jokes. Now, she wants to say whatever she wants! No more filter! That's a strategy that has historically worked out flawlessly for every comedian, so I'm sure nothing will go wrong. This season promises the return of my personal favorite character, Luke Kirby's Lenny Bruce, and Palladino-verse alum Milo Ventimiglia will appear as a new character. The first two episodes are out today, followed by a new episode each Friday. -Allison Picurro WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r SEASON 11 MIDSEASON PREMIERE SUDNAY AT 9/8C ON AMC [The Walking Dead only has two more final seasons to go](WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r) The zombie institution returns for the second installment of its three-part final season (the first part debuted last year, and the series finale is coming later this year). In this run of episodes, Alexandria formally meets the Commonwealth, the advanced colony whose fate will become entwined with the remnants of Rick Grimes' group as the show nears its end. But before that, tensions between Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), which have been simmering all season, will have to resolve, one way or another. Maggie has grown increasingly ruthless since Negan killed her husband, Glenn (Steven Yeun), all those years ago, so Negan better watch his back. -Liam Mathews WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r DO YA REALLY WANNA TASTE IT? [More shows and movies like Peacemaker](WpxUUPHIN:m:1:2364960064:A943CE52C8971A9EC0451B8DCB0224C7:r) HBO Max’s Peacemaker wrapped up its first season yesterday, and you’re probably already going through John Cena in his underwear withdrawal. Well, our list of shows for fans of Peacemaker might not all have Cena in his tighty-whiteys, but they do share something — cartoonish violence, superheroes being bad, Cena — with the series. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
