It's Jane the Virgin meets How I Met Your Mother meets The White Lotus but without the cynicism, and it's pure joy. The film festival winner is about breaking the circle of destruction that mothers can pass down to their own daughters, and director Jessica Earnshaw keeps the camera focused on the bonds between them as they strengthen through love and shred from addiction. I was a weepy mess while watching this, but I’m glad I watched.
