Weâve also got shows for Monk fans. Plus: The Bachelorette finale ends one of the weirdest seasons ever, PBS explores Bostonâs local government for hours, and two huge blockbusters are coming home this week. Hello!
There’s no denying it now. Christmas is nigh. But if you’re behind on getting into the spirit of it all, pry your eyelids open like Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange and sit yourself in front of some Christmas movies. We have lists of the best holiday movies for each streaming service below, but if you’d rather let your television pick for you, [take a look at our Ultimate Holiday Viewing Guide]( which will tell you what festive programming is on pretty much every TV network and streaming service, and when you can watch it. It’s a monster of a guide! If you prefer to fend off Christmas for as long as possible, here are our picks for the week. -Tim [Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!]( [The Bachelorette]( Season finale Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c on ABC
[Here’s a proposal: Watch The Bachelorette]( Tayshia Adams' totally ordinary, very normal, in no way unusual journey to find true love comes to a close this week with a two-night Bachelorette finale on Monday and Tuesday. She's narrowed down the field to just three men after a weird season, in which she came in from the Bachelorette bullpen to take over for starting Bachelorette Clare Crawley, who left the show once she met her one true love after spending like a few hours with him. Tayshia might be the most deserving, normal bachelorette in the show's history, so let's watch her squirm through alternating fits of elation and heartbreak through the final two episodes before being pressured to accept a marriage proposal from a guy she's never seen outside of the resort they're all quarantining in. The Bachelorette is the weirdest show on television. [City Hall]( Tuesday at 8/7c on PBS
[City Hall is like C-SPAN if it was more interesting]( Are you curious about how the government actually works? Do you also somehow have four and a half hours to spare? Master documentarian Frederick Wiseman let his editors have the day off with this mammoth film about Boston’s city hall that somehow still manages to be engrossing. Wiseman, a legend in the filmmaking world who has spent his career diving deep into specific subjects, lifts the mystique off the local government from the top to the bottom, following civil servants and the day-to-day operation of running a city the size of Boston. It also hits issues, like racial injustice and same-sex marriage, by being present at the intersection of the government and the citizens. It may not be the explosion-y excitement those seeking an escape are looking for, but it may make you think twice about screaming at the meter maid who’s just trying to do her job. But I will warn you again: It’s over four hours long. (A reminder: Hulu’s City So Real, about the mayoral race in Chicago, is also about a city and its government, and is one of the best things I saw all year.) [Wonder Woman 1984]( Coming soon
[Our picks of the week include two major movies that you can watch at home]( I miss going to movie theaters. But you know what makes that pain more bearable? When the movies come to me. This week features two blockbusters that are coming straight home: Warner Bros.’ [Wonder Woman 1984]( on HBO Max and Pixar’s [Soul]( on Disney+. They’re just two of [our picks for the week]( in a week that includes an unusually busy Christmas Day.
