Netflixâs Top 10 has a new No. 2 show, but is it worth watching? Plus: The return of a fan-favorite series tops our picks of the week, a sentimental documentary is a must-see, and love is put to the test in AMCâs new sci-fi series.
Hello!

[Dick Johnson is Dead](
Now on Netflix
[Dick Johnson is Dead is a delightful doc about demise](
Death doesn't have to be all boo hoo this, painful screaming that. It's a fact of existence and should be celebrated as such. Director Kirsten Johnson follows up her sentimental film Cameraperson with this touching and surprisingly heartfelt Sundance hit about her dad, who is very much alive but is living with dementia. Looking to capture her dad's journey towards the end, Johnson, who already lost her mom to dementia, embellishes Dick’s life with fantastical sequences that honor her father with some dark humor, including scenes that show how he could die and what a trip to heaven would be like. As always, the quality of a documentary is directly correlated to its subject, and Dick Johnson is a fantastic, funny guy who we all wish could be our dad.
[Soulmates](
Series premiere Monday at 10/9c on AMC
[Sci-fi Soulmates will make you doubt your current relationship](
For all of you hopeless romantics out there stuck in relationships that you know aren’t going anywhere, boy do I have the show for you. The new sci-fi series takes a concept ripped straight from Black Mirror as it tells stories about people in the near future who take advantage of a test that identifies their one, true soulmate. Naturally, that causes all sorts of problems with couples who are already married — do you take the test and pursue that special someone or stick with what you got? The series is an anthology, so it reruns the same concept for different couples in new situations each episode, and in doing so, explores different tones. I have my doubts about how long this can stay interesting — it feels like a single-episode idea that’s being stretched to its absolute max — but it has a great cast that includes Succession’s Sarah Snook, It’s Bill Skarsgard, and Breaking Bad’s Betsy Brandt.
