If you like Lucifer, then youâll love these other shows that feature supernatural crime-solvers and romance. Plus: A pair of important specials to help you vote are must-watches on National Voter Registration Day.
Hello!
It’s the first day of fall, [so have a nice trip](. Normally, the first day of fall would mean me shoving a bunch of trailers and reviews for a ton of new shows into your face, but this isn’t a normal fall, and September’s broadcast fall season — usually an overwhelming flood of television — has been reduced to a mere trickle of socially distanced reality shows, game show revivals, and programs that have already been around on streaming networks. The real fall season is coming, though, just a little late — expect most things back in October — as production on new series and veteran shows was postponed because of coronavirus. Don’t let the fall season sneak up on you; check out when your favorites are coming back on [ABC]( [CBS]( [The CW]( [Fox]( and [NBC](. Here are today’s picks. -Tim

[The Presidential Debates](
Tuesday at 9/8c on PBS
[Frontline: The Choice 2020 is your Trump/Biden breakdown](
My favorite quadrennial episode of Frontline airs tonight, putting both presidential candidates in the blazing hot spotlight not just by looking at the issues they purport to support, but by looking at their entire life. Want to see how Trump and Biden were as kids back in the 1700s or whenever it was they were born? From how they were raised, to how they behave, the two-hour The Choice is the ultimate biography of the guys competing for your vote over the next few months. Don’t go into the voting booth uninformed. I learned more about Trump than I’ll ever need to know four years ago, and I’m pumped for the update. Throw your voters pamphlets in the garbage, because this is all you’ll need.
[Kal Penn Approves This Message](
Series premiere Tuesday at 10:30/9:30c on Freeform
[Kal Penn Approves This Message and young people voting](
While PBS takes a look at the presidential candidates, neither of whom are moving the needle with young voters, Freeform is looking at the issues, particularly those that resonate with the youth. The topical news program aimed at millennials and Gen Z will use comedy, monologues, field segments, and interviews to educate potential voters on political issues that matter most to them. Tuesday night, host Kal Penn urges kids today to get out there and vote by emphasizing the importance of democracy. Anything that inspires the youth to vote is pretty essential right now. Kal Penn Approves This Message will air Tuesday nights for six weeks leading right up to the early November election.

[Here’s what to watch while you wait for Lucifer to return](
Netflix took a gamble when it saved Fox’s Lucifer from cancellation, but so far, it seems to be paying off. The cult hit about the literal Devil come to Earth to solve crimes (yes, really!) is between halves of seasons, but you can get your supernatural, procedural, and romantic fixes [from these shows that have more than a passing resemblance to Lucifer](.
