Turkish import The Protector returns for its fourth and final season. Plus an animated comedy series on HBO Max, an impressive horror debut, and a documentary about one of America’s favorite comedians. Hello! You like Friends, right? You think Chandler Bing is funny and you know what I mean when I say “PIVOT!” So you might want to watch some shows that are like Friends but aren’t Friends. Well, I have a list for you. Here are [nine shows that are similar to Friends]( that may make you laugh even more than Friends. The list includes Friends’ contemporaries like Living Single and Seinfeld and successors like The Big Bang Theory and Happy Endings. If I had written the list, I would have included New Girl, but maybe you can add that to the list in your head. Here are tonight’s TV picks. -[Liam]( [Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!]( WATCH THIS NOW! [Woman Reading]( [It’s not the greatest, but Close Enough]( Series premiere now on HBO Max Creator J.G. Quintel’s previous animated series, Cartoon Network’s Regular Show, was for all ages. His new show, Close Enough, is for grown-ups. Not really because there’s a lot of bad words or graphic content, but because it’s about trying to be a grown-up. The show follows Josh and Emily (voiced by Quintel and Gabrielle Walsh), two thirtysomething parents in Los Angeles who haven’t totally adjusted out of the extended adolescence of their 20s. Episodes contain two Adult Swim-style 11-minute shorts, which means they build to crazy gag-filled climaxes very quickly. It’s a fun, if inessential, addition to the adult animated comedy genre. [Manscaped Ad]( SPONSORED [20% Off The Best Male Grooming Brand]( Exclusively for TV Guide readers: get 20% + free shipping on premium men's hygiene products with code GUIDE. [SHOP NOW]( Life’s a beach, and so is death [Take a trip to The Beach House]( Now on Shudder This disturbing little horror movie is the debut feature from location scout-turned- writer/director Jeffrey A. Brown, who establishes himself as a talent to watch. The movie stars Light As a Feather’s Liana Liberato as Emily, a college student with aspirations of being a biologist who takes a trip with her boyfriend to his family’s secluded beach house. Things take a strange turn when an older couple arrives at the house and they start showing signs of some sort of infection, which Emily realizes has some kind of ecological cause. It’s an atmospheric single-location slow burn, with some truly gruesome body horror elements that will have you checking the bottoms of your feet for parasites. Watch your step, kid [You best The Protector your necktor]( Now on Netflix Season 4 of this popular Turkish supernatural series finds chosen one Hakan (Çağatay Ulusoy) going back in time to stop a war and keep history from repeating itself, while mythological Loyal One Zeynep (Hazar Ergüçlü) undergoes a powerful transformation after taking a mysterious drug. This is the final season of Netflix’s first Turkish original, so Hakan better save Istanbul once and for all, or else Constantinople will get the works. No One expects Amy [No judging, only Expecting Amy]( Now on HBO Max This three-part docuseries follows comedian Amy Schumer as she goes through an exceptionally difficult pregnancy while touring and preparing a comedy special (Growing, which came out on Netflix last year and which also covers a lot of the same stuff as the documentary, albeit in a much more humorous fashion). The doc gives a typically unfiltered look at Schumer’s life, career, and marriage to chef Chris Fischer that Schumer superfans (Schumerfans? Superschumermans?) will appreciate. HBO Max says “It's like Jerry Seinfeld's movie Comedian, if he had been pregnant,” which is a pretty funny and accurate comparison. If you’re not a Schumerfan, this probably isn’t for you unless you also went through a difficult pregnancy and can relate. [Unsubscribe]( | [View online]( ©2020 CBS Interactive | All Rights Reserved.
