New seasons of an HBO comedy and a BBC America thriller highlight the weekend’s picks, Netflix?

New seasons of an HBO comedy and a BBC America thriller highlight the weekend’s picks, Netflix’s latest film is a charmer, and an HBO movie will keep you up all weekend. Welcome to the weekend! We make a ton of recommendations in this here newsletter, and while I’m sure many of you are grateful for them, some of you no doubt mutter under your breath, “Pshhhhh, like I have Apple TV+/HBO/Showtime” when we hype up a show on a streaming service you don’t have. I get it! And I’m sorry, which is why I have personally reached out to several CEOs of streaming services and asked them to allow free trials, and they’ve obliged — here’s a [list of streaming services offering free, no-strings-attached trials]( — purely out of the fear of upsetting me and not because everyone is home self-quarantining. I finally got Apple’s Tim Cook to get on board with the likes of [HBO (for free!)]( and [Showtime (for free!)]( and he’s now offering [free access to a portion of AppleTV+’s library to anyone who wants it](. This is a no-brainer to me; sign up for EVERYTHING and watch everything at the same time. Time will fly by like nothing. Here are this weekend’s picks. –Tim [Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!]( WATCH THIS NOW! [Insecure]( [Insecure puts friendships to the test]( Season 4 premiere Sunday at 10/9c on HBO Issa Rae’s fun and occasionally raunchy comedy about a struggling, young, black woman in Los Angeles often gets lost under the glamour of some of HBO’s other shows, but that just makes it an easier recommendation. [Insecure’s insight into an underrepresented point-of-view of Los Angeles remains sharp in Season 4]( as Issa gets a taste of success while personal issues threaten to derail her dreams, but the meat of Season 4 comes from a gut-wrenching story we can all relate to: Issa and her bestie Molly find their friendship on the rocks as their lives start to head in different directions. If they don’t make it, no one will. You can start with Season 4, but seeing how deep the roots are between these characters, it’s best to start at the beginning. [Killing Eve]( [Killing Eve is still the top show about women trying to kill or kiss each other]( Season 3 premiere Sunday at 9/8c on BBC America and AMC In the interest of transparency, I (Kaitlin) must tell you that I don't think Season 3 of Killing Eve is worth watching as [it feels like a copy of its former self](. However, I also know the show has a passionate following, and that many of you do not care what I think at all. So, when the show returns, Eve (Sandra Oh) is recovering in England from the gunshot wound she sustained at the end of Season 2 – of course she didn't die; the show is called Killing Eve not Eve Is Dead – but she's going through the motions, which no longer have anything to do with MI6, Carolyn (Fiona Shaw), or gorgeous international assassins with a flair for the dramatic. Meanwhile, Villanelle (Jodie Comer), believing she killed Eve, has moved on in other parts of Europe. That is, of course, until a shockingly personal murder pulls Eve back into the orbit of MI6 and onto a collision course with Villanelle, who's once again working with the Twelve. If that sounds good to you, great! If not, well, I did warn you. –Kaitlin Thomas LITTLE AMERICA, CONTINUED [Tigertail]( [Catch a Tigertail]( Now on Netflix Alan Yang (Master of None, Little America) once again looks to his parents for inspiration in this Netflix film — one of our picks for [best Netflix options for the week]( — that dramatizes his father's emigration from Taiwan to America. An emotional and funny tale about multiple generations, Tigertail follows a young man's decision to leave behind the homeland he loves to start a new life in the U.S. with a woman he barely knows, and fast-forwards to the future as the man realizes that his adult American-born daughter, who he also feels little connection with, is showing the same stubbornness he did. They bond, you'll cry. THE MISSING, CONTINUED [Baptiste]( [Baptiste is a detective to be reckoned with]( U.S. Series premiere Sunday at 10/9c on PBS One of my favorite crime dramas of the last decade was Starz’s The Missing, a dark drama that explored a new case of a missing child in each of its two seasons. The cases and European locales may have changed between seasons, but one thing was consistent: the steely, compassionate Detective Julien Baptiste. In this miniseries spin-off of The Missing, a retired Baptiste returns to the creep-hunting game following serious medical issues to help a man find his missing niece, who disappeared into the underbelly of Amsterdam’s Red Light District. The Missing creators Harry and Jack Williams continue their knack for clever, twisty storytelling that jostles viewers into never getting comfortable as Baptiste sniffs out the truth from lies. And at just six episodes, it’s easy to finish. If you have the stomach for it, both seasons of The Missing are included with Amazon Prime Video, and Season 1 is a must-watch [even if it will leave you hollow inside](. WORST GAME OF TAG EVER [It: Chapter 2]( [It: Chapter 2 clowns around with horror]( Cable debut Saturday at 8/7c on HBO; streaming on HBO GO, HBO NOW after Who doesn’t love a clown? With their funny faces, colorful hair, single red balloons, sharp and pointy teeth… and uhhh… why is he looking at me that way? Hey, pal… that’s close enou-- ARRRRARAGRHGRHHHGH!
