Westworld returns for Season 3 slightly easier to understand, Amazon adapts Agatha Christie, Elite’s teens get into more mayhem, and South Korea’s best zombie show is back.
Hello!
It's likely that you’ll soon be seeing a lot more of your family now that people are staying home and public [events are being postponed or canceled]( in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19 — Broadway has gone dark and even amusement parks are closed ([the moose out front should have told you](. The easiest way to survive being stuck in enclosed spaces with your family is by plopping down on the couch and watching some great television for hours while not speaking to one another. So, it’s a good thing this weekend is offering up some great picks, from new seasons of bingeable Netflix shows to HBO series that will leave you thinking. Check them out below. – Kaitlin

[You might be able to understand Westworld this time](
Season 3 Premiere at 9/8c on HBO
The robot uprising moves out of the theme park and into the real world in Season 3 of HBO's cautionary warning against technology, and the good news is that it's not nearly as confusing as Season 2 was ([here is what you need to remember from Season 2](. Gone are (most of) the storytelling tricks and the one-note Dolores who murdered humans, and in is a [more straight-forward story about the Singularity, privacy issues, and deep dives into human consciousness](. Oh don't get me wrong, you'll still be scratching your head plenty, but your scalp will remain intact as answers come more quickly. Aaron Paul joins the cast as a wayward low-level criminal who gets caught up in Dolores' plans, and expect some pretty exciting cameos in the first few episodes. – Tim

TEENAGE WASTED-LAND
[Elite’s teens are back on the escalator again](
Season 3 Now on Netflix
Public schools aren't bad; everyone knows private schools are where kids really get into trouble. In this hit Netflix series from Spain, students at the well-to-do Las Encinas High School cope with murder, police investigations, and wrongful arrests, all while also dealing with wild parties, make-out sessions, and popularity. There are some Riverdale vibes without the cults, bear attacks, and mind-control drugs, but it's also clearly influenced by How to Get Away With Murder with its liberal use of flash-forwards loaded with intrigue while the present-day timeline shows viewers how things get to that point. We'll go out on a limb and say it has something to do with teenagers making bad decisions. – Tim
NEIGH THERE
[The Pale Horse rides at dawn](
Now on Amazon Prime
No one does mystery quite like Agatha Christie, and Amazon's two-part adaptation of The Pale Horse is for the murder mystery fan in all of us. After a list of names is found in a dead woman's shoe, an antiques dealer (Rufus Sewell) rushes to figure out why he's on the list before he ends up dead like so many others. His journey eventually takes him to The Pale Horse, said to be the home of three witches, and he has to wonder if these deaths are the works of witches or something more rational.
NO TIME TO DIE
[My Kingdom for a good zombie show](
Season 2 Now on Netflix
We don't really need any new zombie shows, but if we're going to watch them, they'd better have some sort of twist. Netflix's Kingdom, the first South Korean original Netflix series, was one of 2019's brightest surprises for exactly that reason. Kingdom features the undead relentlessly tearing people apart, sure, but it sets all the action during Korea's Joseon period in the late 16th century. That means no headshots from shotguns, but who needs that when you have sharp blades slicing heads clean off? A fine mix of historical fiction and supernatural horror, Kingdom has brought the zombie drama back from the dead. And there's absolutely zero talk about doing what it takes to survive while also retaining humanity like a certain other zombie show out there. – Tim
LIFE IMITATING ART
[Avenue 5 is your life now](
Season 1 finale at 10/9c on HBO
If you know Armando Iannucci, the creator of shows like Avenue 5 and the sharp political series Veep, you might want to ask him if he has some sort of psychic ability, as both shows have now seemingly predicted real events. Avenue 5, which airs its Season 1 finale on Sunday, is about people going insane while stuck aboard a cruise ship in space. And get this: The people in charge are woefully unqualified or ill-prepared for the entire situation. Tell me what is more relevant than that? Anyway, in the finale, Matt (Zach Woods) is in hiding with the airlock codes and a guilty conscience; Iris (Suzy Nakamura) questions Karen (Rebecca Front) about her rumored affair with Ryan (Hugh Laurie); and chaos erupts after a seat on a rescue shuttle becomes available.
