The CWâs latest adaptation transforms an old priss into a wily detective, Riverdale says goodbye to a beloved actor, and sports does a do-or-die douple dip.
Hello!
We’re two days out from the premiere of Netflix’s [El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie]( and we’re so excited, we’ve got jitters like we’ve been dipping into some of Walter White’s [crystal blue persuasion](. To get ready for it, you’re obviously going to want to rewatch the Breaking Bad finale – one of television’s all-time great series finales – but you’ll also want to [revisit a certain Aaron Paul-recommended episode of the show]( too. If you’re like me and lazy, you can skip right to [our cheat sheet]( and refresh your memory on where everyone left off or [peruse the questions we still have from the series’ run that we hope the movie answers](. Here are tonight’s TV picks. –Tim

[Rhythm + Flow](
[Rhythm + Flow is the music competition show you didn’t know you needed](
Now on Netflix
Just when you think you don’t need another reality music show in your life, Cardi B. comes along and crushes (and crushes on) contestants in Netflix’s new series Rhythm + Flow and makes the genre feel fresh again. Like American Idol or The Voice but exclusively for hip-hop acts, Rhythm + Flow works because of its higher level of authenticity. It helps that it’s on Netflix, so the judges – who in addition to Cardi include T.I., Chance the Rapper, and a celebrity judge depending on what city they’re in (Snoop Dogg joined the judges in Cali) – can be profanely honest with their feelings, with Cardi’s potty mouth leading the way. That’s balanced out with the love shown when a contestant comes in spittin’ fire and realizes their dreams. For many, this show is their way out of a life of poverty, and when they put it all out there, you feel it.

[Nancy Drew](
[Nancy Drew gets modernized... with ghosts, of course](
Series premiere Wednesday at 9/8c on The CW
The CW’s continuing effort to ungrandfather old properties (as in “this ain’t your grandfather’s blah biddy blah”) continues with Nancy Drew, an updated take on the whip-smart teen detective who first appeared during the Hoover administration. In the CW’s version, Nancy puts her college plans on hold to work a dead-end job in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine, and take care of some sleuthing on the side. And this time, the mysteries involve specters of the undead. Surprisingly, [it works and you might even get some Veronica Mars vibes from it](.

[BASEBALL! BASEBALL! BASEBALL!](
Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT and 8:37 p.m. ET/5:37 p.m. PT on TBS
The baseball gods have gifted us not one, but two elimination games today as the St. Louis Cardinals head to Atlanta to do battle with the Braves in the early game, and the Washington Nationals endure the traffic of Los Angeles to try to bounce the Dodgers. Of the two games, the nightcap has the greater potential for drama with a pair of ace pitchers on the mound (Walker Buehler for the Dodgers, Stephen Strasburg for the Nats) and the heavily-favored Dodgers pushed to the brink by the never-say-die Nationals. The fun continues tomorrow with a deciding Game 5 between the plucky Tampa Bay Rays and the World Series-favorite Houston Astros.

[Riverdale](
[Riverdale says goodbye to Luke Perry](
Season 4 premiere Wednesday at 8/9c on The CW
The sudden death of Luke Perry last March hung over Riverdale, where he played Archie’s dad Fred, but the show never got a chance to directly address the fate of his character or properly mourn the cast’s loss. Tonight’s Season 4 opener [doubles as a fond farewell to Perry]( that showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Costa called “the most important episode” of the year, and also features a guest appearance by Perry’s Beverly Hills, 90210 castmate Shannen Doherty. The Riverdale faithful will also be glued to their screens to learn anything about what comes next after the Season 3 finale cliffhanger, in which it was [highly implied that Jughead may have been killed]( and his friends might have murdered him (though you might have to wait a week for anything satisfying). At least, that’s what I’m hoping for, because that would be gnarly and this insane show about shirtless teens playing voodoo role-playing games and doing drugs with silly names could pull it off.
