Mindy Kaling brings a cherished rom-com to the small screen, Chris Evans goes shirtless for Netflix, and Bashir Salahuddin throws back to the days of Soul Train.
Hello!
Ayyyyyy, do you like movies? Then you’ve probably heard of this Martin Scorsese fella, who does wondrous things with a camera. Marty’s coming back with his latest film, The Irishman, starring his pals [Robert De Niro]( [Joe Pesci]( and [Al Pacino]( and the [first trailer was released today](. The cool — and risky — thing about this movie is that the first half of the film is set decades before the second half, and Scorsese is using special effects to “de-age” his all-star cast so they look younger. Bobby De Niro back in his prime? Give it to us! Here’s [everything we know about the film]( including when it makes its premiere in theaters and on Netflix, and here are tonight’s TV picks:

[Jane the Virgin](
[Jane the Virgin bids us farewell](
Series finale at 9/8c on The CW
One of The CW’s all-time great shows comes to a close tonight, [wrapping up an award-winning take on the telenovela genre]( with its 100th episode. Will someone come back from the dead? Will there be more twins? Will anyone have amnesia? Or will all these dangling storylines be wrapped up in sweet, nice ways so that the characters have happy endings? Maybe a combination of all those, but as far as surprises go, you will finally learn the identity of the narrator. With Jane the Virgin and [Crazy Ex-Girlfriend]( now gone, The CW will have to dig deep to hear its name called come awards time.

[Sherman's Showcase](
[Sherman’s Showcase celebrates black music with stoner comedy](
Series premieres Wednesday at 10/9c on IFC
[Bashir Salahuddin]( is having quite the week. The comedian and former writer for [The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon]( (but we won’t hold that against him) co-created Comedy Central’s new sharply funny comedy [South Side]( which debuted last Wednesday, and today his other show he created and stars in, Sherman’s Showcase, premieres on IFC. And from what we can tell, the guy is a little crazy and a lot funny. Sherman’s Showcase is a spoof on black music-based shows like Soul Train, looking back on the 40-year history of the fictional show of the same name through odd skits (like “Tiffany Haddish Tries Soup,” in which Haddish slurps some soup, and that’s it) and fake songs from everything to a James Brown-style rant on weird things to a yacht rock ode to Marina del Rey. Like the similar-ish new series [Danny’s House]( it’s a show with no rules and lots of laughs.
ROM-COM IS DA BOMB
[Four Weddings and a Funeral](
[Will Four Weddings and a Funeral make you laugh, cry, or both?](
Series premieres Wednesday on Hulu
[Mindy Kaling]( is an unapologetic romantic-comedy junkie, and she takes her obsession with make-out sessions in the rain and sprinting after trains or through airports to Hulu’s new series which adapts [Richard Curtis]( classic for the modern era. The premise sees four Americans — including the very British [Nathalie Emmanuel]( — who join together in London for a wedding that goes awry, and continues to follow their romantic ups and downs over the year. And as the title promises, there will be four weddings and a funeral throughout the season. And for you Four Weddings O.G. die-hards, know that [Andie McDowell]( makes an appearance.
CAPTAIN ISRAEL
[Red Sea Diving Resort](
[Pack your bags for the The Red Sea Diving Resort](
Now on Netflix
Chris Evans headlines this Netflix original film, in which he is shirtless several times near a body of water, making it one of the most important films of our generation. If you’d actually like to know what the movie is about, it follows a Mossad agent (Evans) who helps Jewish-Ethiopians find refuge in Israel from Sudan by using an abandoned vacation resort as a cover. Reviews are mixed, but in his [favorable review]( our own Jordan Hoffman says, “This is one of those oddball stories of recent history that rightly deserves to be more than a footnote.”
