Plus: A new CW sci-fi series is a sign that summer is in full effect, Zac Efron plays a caveman in this prehistoric comedy, and Disney wants to get you excited for this weekend’s big movie release. Hello! You’ve spent so much time putting the finishing touches on your Harry Strickland from Game of Thrones cosplay for San Diego Comic-Con (July 17-21) that you don’t even know what you’ll be doing once you get there. Well, unlike the esteemed leader of the Golden Company, we’re useful for something, and have [compiled the only Comic-Con schedule]( you’ll need to have a blast at pop culture’s biggest con. And if you’re one of those superfans who goes to SDCC even though you don’t have a badge to get into the convention center, we’ve got a [list of events for freeloaders]( too. As Harry would say… actually, we can’t think of one thing Harry did say. Here are tonight’s TV picks: [Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!]( WATCH THIS NOW? [Frankenstein's Monster's Monster, Frankenstein]( [What is up with Frankenstein’s Monster’s Monster, Frankenstein?]( Now on Netflix This isn’t necessarily the pick we recommend the most today, but it’s bound to be the one people talk the most about. [Stranger Things]( [David Harbour]( keeps it in the Netflix family with this highly unusual mockumentary that we’re still trying to wrap our heads around. Harbour plays himself as he looks into his father’s (also played by Harbour) disastrous stage production of Frankenstein, moments of which are intercut with Harbour learning new secrets about his family in present day. It’s played straight without punchlines, leaving the grainy past footage and Harbour’s deliberate overacting to generate laughs, but intentionally going flat made the whole thing too flat. Is it anti-comedy or just totally devoid of comedy? This one is a total head scratcher, but at only 32 minutes, it’s easy enough to watch to see for yourself. SPACED OUT [Pandora]( [Pandora could be Mystery Science Theater 3000’s next target]( Series premieres Tuesday at 8/7c on The CW Summer CW shows could be a genre all their own. They pop up out of nowhere with little fanfare, disappear without a trace after abrupt cancellations, and go best with half a brain. The latest junior varsity series for The CW is Pandora, a sci-fi show following a young woman who loses her entire family to an attack but finds purpose at the plainly named Earth’s Space Training Academy, where the professors have British accents, saving the world is equally as important as flirting with hot guys, and attractive students take hyper showers behind translucent holo-doors. The whole thing feels like a tryout for the actors to get a short arc on the next season of Supergirl, but it’s fun on its own if you know how to appreciate bad television. Weird fact: The series was filmed in Bulgaria! THE DAWN OF MAN-IMATION [Human Discoveries]( [Zac Efron makes some Human Discoveries]( Series premiere now on Facebook Watch If you’re bored at work and looking for something that’s decent enough to pass the time, skip the Area 51 memes on Facebook and watch this entirely passable adult cartoon on Facebook. [Zac Efron]( [Anna Kendrick]( and others voice cavepeople as they discover man’s most important discoveries, including booze and monogamy. There’s violence, bad words, and hangovers, and occasionally some laughs, particularly when the local herd of elk complain about their standing in the food chain and viciously maul a man-eating tiger. HAKUNA PROMOTE-A [Lion King]( [Yes, you can feel the love of the Lion King]( Tuesday at 8/9c on ABC It’s the ciiiiiiiiiircle of corporate synergy, and Disney bombards us all, through movies and TV, to adorable plush dolls! Know what you’re getting into when you line up at the cineplex this Friday with this peek at the new The Lion King film, courtesy of the Disney-owned network ABC. [Robin Roberts]( hosts the hour-long special that features interviews with a photorealistic version of director [Jon Favreau]( and star [Donald Glover]( and also explores what makes the original Lion King so beloved. As if it’s a mystery why a movie with baby lions and a wise-cracking meerkat is adored. [Unsubscribe]( | [View online]( ©2019 CBS Interactive | All Rights Reserved.
