You're probably missing out on the best feel-good show out there, a pair of streaming comedies revel

You're probably missing out on the best feel-good show out there, a pair of streaming comedies revel in the awkwardness of being a middle-schooler, and the best documentary of 2018 comes to HBO Hello! The [61st Grammys]( ceremony airs this weekend (Sunday at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on CBS), in case you forgot or never even heard in the first place. See, what once was music’s biggest and best showcase is now looking in the rearview at its best days. Last year’s ceremony was — boring but important stat incoming! — the lowest-rated telecast in Grammys history among important people (read: advertiser-friendly young people). That’s an indication that the Grammys are about to go the way of Tower Records, and it’s not hard to figure out why. If you think television has an abundance of subgenres (some traditional critics are still picking up the pieces of their skull from the influx of the half-hour drama), music’s current family tree will floor you. Hyphy, trap, blackgaze, sludge, post-punk, post-progressive, Post Malone, new country, neo-psych, nu disco, new wave, synth wave, dark wave, cold wave, minimal wave, wave wave (OK that last one is made up)... it never ends! With so much music out there and so many ways to ingest it, can we really ever [settle on a clear-cut winner and please anyone]( Definitely not. With that, we say good luck, Grammys. Here are our weekend TV picks: [Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!]( WATCH THIS NOW! [One Day at a Time]( [Please, for the love of everything, watch One Day at a Time]( Season 3 premieres Friday on Netflix For skeptical TV viewers, One Day at a Time had two strikes against it before it even aired. It’s a reboot, which, ugh, and it’s a multi-camera comedy, a format that has been (incorrectly) associated with dumbed-down common-denominator comedy. But naysayers, go sit in the corner! One Day at a Time is [one of the best television shows out there]( thanks to an outstanding cast led by [Justina Machado]( (give her an Emmy already) as Penelope, a single Cuban-American mother raising two teenagers, and a [deft turn-on-a-dime balance of comedy and important social topics]( like consent, immigration and gender issues. But it does so in way that’s approachable, just and tells the whole story. It’s a wonderful show that’s will surprise you if you haven’t seen it. Plus, it has the [most bangin’ theme song]( in the business and living treasure [Rita Moreno](. STOP ACTING YOUR AGE [PEN15]( [Join the PEN15 club]( Season 1 premieres Friday on Hulu In the world of television, kids dressing and acting like adults is almost always funny (see: [Odd Squad]( but adults dressing and acting like kids doesn’t have the same success rate. But adults dressing and acting like kids while surrounded by other actual kids? It works! Well, mostly, in Hulu’s new comedy about a pair of seventh-grade girls (played by grown-up comedians [Maya Erskine]( and [Anna Konkle]( who convincingly convey the emotional horrors of adolescence) who start junior high school in the early 2000s with high hopes for what’s ahead, only to see their dreams immediately crushed by the other kids. The sight gag of seeing these two adults in a sea of children is surprisingly sustainable, especially when they’re cursing out 13-year-olds, and there are some legit moments of poignancy regarding the pains of being uncool. Don’t let the bad title fool you, PEN15 is perfect for those who root for the underdog and like their comedy with a side of sweetness. SOMETHING TO TIDE YOU OVER [Big Mouth: My Furry Valentine]( [Be mine, Big Mouth]( Special episode premieres Friday on Netflix Get prepped for the most commercially romantic day of the year by watching a bunch of randy cartoon teenagers try to get some. The critically acclaimed Big Mouth is lewd and absurd, yes, but it’s also a nostalgic look into the hormone-flooded minds of kids who have no help along the pubescent path they’re on. The double-sized special adds authenticity by mining the show’s writers’ room for real disastrous Valentine’s Day stories from their youth, and it was designed as a perfect bridge between seasons (Season 3 probably won’t be released until the fall). WATCH THIS NOW [Won't You Be My Neighbor?]( [Won’t You Be My Neighbor will remind you of the good we can do]( Saturday at 8/7c on HBO One of the most acclaimed documentaries of 2018 is making its way to your home, and the timing couldn’t be better. [Fred Rogers]( and his show, [Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood]( were beacons of civility during tumultuous times, and his philosophy of kindness and acceptance, which we could all use right about now, is highlighted in this award-winning documentary that was somehow [snubbed by the Oscars]( (Mr. Rogers would tell us it’s quite alright, but we’ll be mad for him). Put on a sweater, kick up your feet, and see what being a good person is all about. WATCH THIS NOW [The Walking Dead]( [The Walking Dead returns with a whisper(er)]( Season 9 continues Sunday at 9/8 on AMC Since zombies are old news, The Walking Dead has to rely on interesting villains to provide momentum for a show that doesn’t have any end in sight. The Whisperers arc really begins on Sunday with the midseason premiere, in which we’ll learn a whole lot more about the group of survivors who wear zombie skin in order to blend in with the flesh-eating undead. Let’s be honest here — that’s a dumb way to make it through a zombie apocalypse, but The Walking Dead left any sense of reality behind a long time ago, and the Whisperers provide a badly needed sense of horror that the show was lacking. Most of the attention will be on Oscar nominee [Samantha Morton]( and [Sons of Anarchy]( [Ryan Hurst]( as the leaders of the Whisperers, but our eyes are on young [Cailey Fleming]( who plays Judith Grimes and may just be the best actor on the show. It doesn’t hurt that she has a great scene partner (we won’t say who) to work with in the episode. [Unsubscribe]( | [View online]( ©2019 CBS Interactive | All Rights Reserved.
